Overview

FIELD TRIPS TO REALITY is the second book of short stories, thirteen tales by poet, storyteller, songwriter and author, Doyle Raymond Vines. The first book, 'WRITTEN PICTURES" was first published in 2009. An expurgated and slightly modified second printing came out in 2011.
A number of the stories found in 'FIELD TRIPS TO REALITY' are in fact, true stories; inspiration for the title. Some are pure fiction. One tale, 'Slaughter' is a blend of these. "The Uninvited" is a timeless parable. There should be something for everybody in this more mainstream collection of adventures, lifechanging moments of human insight, semi-biography, glimpses into life a few decades ahead, lives of ordinary people, poetic visions, and social comment.
["I Was Surprised" is an excerpt from his popular short novel, 'Winter Soup', printed in June of 2013. "Silver Star' appeared in the local newspaper (as noted). "Cold Pork Sushi Stew" and a version of "Old School Feminism" have appeared in the Poet's Post anthologies of poetry. "The Last Book" appeared in the second printing of "Written Pictures."]
