Ashraya is a ninth grader whose first book, titled Ring of Hope, was published when she was ten years old. It told a true turtle rescue story. Ashraya received the PETA Award for that rescue.

Her second book, Aria, a collection of several varieties of poems, was published in 2012. Both the books received several accolades from eminent people around the world, and were a huge success in the international market.

Ashraya has been the recipient of several awards at a young age. Some of these are the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial award, Senator's Leadership award, Daily Point of Light Award, President's Voluntary Service award, and many others.

She has been the champion of the Spring-Ford Scripps Spelling Bee twice, and was the state champion for the Scripps Bee (sponsored by Times Herald) in 2013, followed by being the runner-up in 2014. Her passion for words is exhibited through her writing, as will be seen in this book, Fifth Gate.
