The 22 practical ideas are exactly what I needed to know!”
Patrick Morley, PhD, Executive Chairman at Man in the Mirror and bestselling author of 21 books, including The Man in the Mirror and The Christian Man

“I tend to avoid books that give ‘self-help’ advice—life is too complicated for easy formulas. The more I went through Fit over 50, however, the more I learned. Drawing on the latest research, the authors have assembled a remarkable list of practical suggestions on how to flourish in every way.”
Philip Yancey, author of Fearfully and Wonderfully: The Marvel of Bearing God's Image (with Dr. Paul Brand)

"For those who are interested in a fitness book that deals with the total person: physical, mental, emotional, relational, and spiritual, this is a must read. Fit over 50 is filled with research-based and biblically sound practical tips for all who want to live life to the fullest.”
Gary D. Chapman, PhD, author of The 5 Love Languages

“Wait! Don’t let the title fool you. Fit over 50 is not fiction. This volume is so chock-full of helpful (not to mention up-to-date) advice that I expect it to inform my life for the rest of my days. Walt Larimore and Phillip Bishop manage to keep the cookies on the lower shelf where even we laypeople can reach them. Thoroughly engrossing.”
Jerry Jenkins, New York Times bestselling author

“God cares about our health—not only for our comfort but for His service. With clear and well- researched advice, Dr. Larimore has fashioned a remarkable guide. With his insightful, whole person understanding of health, he describes practical steps that will fashion our bodies and spirits into the best possible shape to enjoy our health and to serve our King."
Al Weir, MD, President, Christian Medical & Dental Associations

Jim Daly, President, Focus on the Family

“One of the best all-around books I’ve ever seen for those of us over 50 who want to improve our all-around health. I’ll be putting many of these tips to action in my life and suggesting my friends and colleagues get a copy of their own.”
Pat Williams, Senior Vice President of the NBA's Orlando Magic and author of Character Carved in Stone

Chris Fabry, author and host of Chris Fabry Live

“Walt Larimore is one of those unique physicians who somehow manages to blend both great scientific and technical know-how with incredible empathy and a winsome bedside manner. Who doesn’t yearn for that when visiting their doctor? Add to that his theological depth of reflection and concern for the whole person—body and soul—and Fit over 50 becomes required reading for all of us as we prepare for our final third season of life. It’s just good stewardship!”
Scott Bolinder, Executive Director, Institute for Bible Reading

“I am the target audience for this book. I am over 50 and have a strong desire to make simple choices today for a healthier, happier way of life. I have read the book, but I will be keeping it by my side as a go-to reference to keep me on track to be the best me I can be.”

Gary DeSalvo, Senior Pastor, Temple Bible Church, Temple, Texas, and Bev DeSalvo, author Return to Joy

“I am drawn to a doctor who cares about me person, not just as a physical body that needs to be repaired. As one who has passed the 50-mile marker in life and has many questions about how to make the most of the rest of my days, I was personally blessed to read this book. It gave me much practical information and wisdom. And I was also blessed by the holistic perspective of the authors, as they are sensitive not just to my medical needs, but my emotional and spiritual ones as well.”
Pastor Doug Pratt, Senior Pastor, First Presbyterian Church, Bonita Springs, Florida

“As a retired physician, I find myself telling others what basically amounts to ‘do as I say, not as I do’ when they ask for health (as opposed to medical) advice. Here is a book that is not only chock-full of facts and wisdom, but also replete with simple ideas for getting off the couch and moving into physical, social, emotional, and spiritual health and wellness. Read it and learn to accept the much-better you!”
James D. Collier, MD, Former Assistant Surgeon General for Healthcare Operations, United States Air Force

“As a man over 65, I am working harder and harder to steward this vessel the Lord has given me. As a theologian over 65, I will always keep this book within arm’s reach. Walt Larimore and Phil Bishop have given us an invaluable guide for making happier and healthier choices that will be cherished by our family until we exchange this perishable body for a glorified one.”
Buz McNutt, PhD, Senior Pastor, First Baptist Boynton, Boynton Beach, Florida

Fit over 50 contains an incredible array of sound health advice on a wide range of topics relevant to our everyday lives. The Scripture references are helpful not only to assure me that the items of advice are clearly in line with my biblical worldview, but also to inform one of my other projects—that of integrating a host of biblical texts into the teaching of the health sciences.”
Reginald Finger, MD, MPH, Assistant Professor, Indiana Wesleyan University and Graduate Program in Public Health, School of Health Sciences

“I found that once I turned 50, maintaining my physical health became more of a challenge than it had ever been before. This book is filled with helpful tips and practical principles that are easy to understand and simple (although not necessarily easy) to implement. Bryan Myers, MMin, Senior Pastor, Academy Christian Church, Colorado Springs, Colorado

“It is not often that you can find a book that embodies trustworthy, evidence-based, best-practice information to keep fit over 50 from experts in the field of medicine and exercise physiology. If we would all follow the advice set forth in these pages, how much more service could the good Lord get out of our allotted days?”
Marc Chetta, MD, Professor, School of Health Professions, Bob Jones University

Michael D. Bishop, MD, CEO, Unity Physician Group, PC

“As a physician with 10 years’ experience, I was impressed and can honestly say I learned a few things reading Fit over 50. It even had me thinking about my own health. If just half of my patients followed a handful of these tips, I’d have to look for another job!”

Steve Foley MD, FACOG, Prowers Medical Center

“What a great resource for both clinicians, patients over 50, and…well, all people, really! It provides a plethora of medically up-to-date recommendations for living a healthy life in an easy-to-read format, while addressing the oh-so-important issues of spiritual and emotional health that are so often ignored or glossed over in today’s busy culture. I am definitely recommending this book to my family, friends, and patients!”
Susan A. Henriksen, MD, Family Physician (and over 50)

“This is a book that was convicting to me as a woman over 50 who has some work to do, but also encouraging to me in that there are things I am already doing well. As a family physician, I will be keeping Fit over 50 on my list of ‘prescribed’ resources to help my patients, friends, and loved ones live life to the fullest.”
Jennifer K. Allen, MD, DABFP, Clarity Healthcare

“As we all go through the aging process, many of us develop chronic illnesses, such as arthritis and brain diseases, and we can be subject to the simple deterioration that occurs with aging. We can also develop acute illnesses, including cancer and infections. However, most of these illnesses are not inevitable, and with a comprehensive and spirit-based approach to prevention of disease and maintenance of a healthy lifestyle, we can more completely glorify God and keep our body a temple. Fit over 50 provides many helpful ideas that help us both spiritually and physically on our journey through life, and as a strong proponent of prevention. I heartily endorse this informative work.”
Daniel VanHamersveld, MD, Cardiologist, Sacramento Heart and Vascular Medical Associates

“In my desire to maintain a healthy life and find answers to numerous questions, I am sometimes a bit overwhelmed at the wealth of information on the internet. Walt Larimore Phil Bishop have provided a well-researched resource to help others, who like me, pursue evidence-based information to help their decision-making efforts. They point out that in the research all the evidence suggests that living well and long centers on a powerful connection between our physical bodies and our emotional, mental, relational, and spiritual well-being.' For the health-conscious person who is searching for reliable answers to their questions, Fit over 50 is a must-read.”
Barbara Seeds, MA (Psychology)

“My friend Dr. Walt Larimore has written a wonderfully practical and easily understood compendium on how to maximize your health and happiness. Even though the title says Fit over 50, the information in this book can easily be applied by anyone at any age. That’s the beauty of it…it anticipates what we all can use at some point in our lives and helps us prepare for it. Walt also addresses the clearly spiritual context for achieving better health and fitness. This is a timely book. Pick it up and keep it handy!”
Joe Battaglia, author of The Politically Incorrect Jesus and Unfriended

Fit over 50 provides us with biblical, practical, and proven wisdom on living well. Read and apply the help and hope Walt shares, and give your special loved ones the gift of a healthier and more vibrant you.”
