PR is seen that on the basis of the above assumption the strength of the base RX should diminish to a minimum and then increase again, as R is varied from one extreme of the electromotive series to the other Those properties which are usually associated with the term strength - extent of ioniza tion (compound formation), and, as will be seen from the sequel, solubility, should undergo concomitant variation.
