Overview

In Fighting the Terror of the Coast, Frank Reade, Jr., has just completed his invention of the greatest air-ship he had even conceived. However, even before he can begin to enjoy the air-ship the mayor of a Mexican town begs him to help destroy a gang of pirates who are preying on passing boats and ships. Frank, of course, cannot refuse to help, and the fun begins!

The teenaged inventor-hero Frank Reade Jr. was wildly popular, starring in at least 179 violent "blood and thunder" adventures aimed at young men, but enjoyed by adults, as well. After improving on his dad's steam-driven inventions, Frank Jr. turned to electricity-the motive power of the future! He built electric-powered robots, submarines, ATVs, and helicopter airships, all heavily armed and armored. He had adventures around the world, even accidentally venturing into outer space.

About the Author

Harry Cohen wrote the Frank Reade, Sr. series as "Noname." Cohen also wrote as Harry Enton. In 1879, Luis Senarens took over the series and the pen name; he was only sixteen. Senarens began his first Frank Reade book by shoving Frank into middle-age, retiring him, and announcing that his son had taken over as an inventor. Senarens is said to have written under twenty-six names besides "Noname," but almost never as himself.
