About the Author

Lisa Ryan, MBA, is the Founder and Chief Appreciation Strategist of Grategy®. She has more than twenty-five years of sales, marketing and training experience.

Lisa took her first public speaking class in 1987 when she participated in a Dale Carnegie public speaking training class. She then discovered the public speaking club Toastmasters International in 1987 and pursued speaking in earnest.

She is featured in two films, the award-winning film, "The Keeper of the Keys" with Jack Canfield of Chicken Soup for the Soul and "The Gratitude Experiment" with Dr. John Demartini. She is the author of three books, The Upside of Down Times: Discovering the Power of Gratitude, From Afraid to Speak to Paid to Speak: How Overcoming Public Speaking Anxiety Boosts Your Confidence and Your Career, and With Excellence.

While in the corporate world, Lisa worked in a variety of industries, from staffing to industrial to medical sales. She has presented to many Fortune 500 corporations, professional associations, and has been a featured speaker at an international healthcare symposium.

She has presented a diverse array of training programs. As a corporate computer trainer, she conducted eight-hour computer training programs to her colleagues. As a medical sales rep, she gave more than 500 continuing education programs to over 10,000 healthcare workers.

After leaving healthcare to start her own business, Lisa consulted for a presentation skills organization where she led presentation skills training classes ranging from one day to two and a half days. She coached participants on their physical skills to make them more comfortable, effective and dynamic in front of an audience.

Lisa serves on the board of the Ohio Chapter of the National Speakers Association and facilitates their Speaker Academy program. She is President of her Toastmasters International Club and holds a Bachelor's Degree and an MBA in marketing. In addition to Grategy, she is the Cofounder of the Positive Thinkers Network.
