From Here to You by Jamie McGuire

Discover a new series from the author of the #1 New York Times bestseller Beautiful Disaster: a "heartbreaking and hopeful, raw and sexy" tale about a woman on the run who encounters a stranger with a secret (Lauren Blakely, author of Part-Time Lover).

As Darby Dixon sits in a tiny Texas church bathroom on her wedding day holding a positive pregnancy test, she realizes that marrying her fiancé would be the worst decision of her life. She's never been very good at standing up for herself, but she'll sure as hell stand up for her baby. With very little cash and a ton of courage, she flees town to take a new name and start a new life.

As a Marine, Scott "Trex" Trexler worked in the most treacherous, corrupt, war-torn places on earth. With his new top-secret security job, he finally has a chance to return to the one place he's felt at peace: Colorado Springs, Colorado.

The moment Trex checks in at the hotel where she's working, Darby knows he's dangerous. He may want her to think he's another hotshot firefighter, along with all the others battling the nearby mountain blaze, but something doesn't add up. No way will she get involved with another man she can't fully trust - and Trex clearly isn't telling her everything. As Darby's ex gets closer and closer to finding her, both she and Trex will soon find out that what you don't know really can hurt you.

Not sure how to rate this book. Some parts were good and others were confusing. Waaay too many chacters and unexplained scenarios. Guess that's the set up for the series. Won't be buying any more books by this author.

I loved Darby and Trex's story. So many emotions. Love the way hot shots and Maddox twins were involved in story. Great start to new series. Can't wait for more .

This was a complete story with great characters and a plot and full of love and great for shadowing. I read a lot of cute books that just tell a quick neat story. This book is the real deal! It is worth every penny and then some. Few authors write like this one.

Well worth the reading!

Any book that references Darby O’Gill and the little people is all right by me! I felt for Darby and her situation. I liked her character, a strong willed, smart girl but most of Trex’s chapters bored me to death. I liked him but I just didn’t feel connected to his POV. I did appreciate the resolution of her situation with her ex. After the buildup throughout the story, I was glad it was intense and not over in two seconds. If though it wasn’t my favorite, I will still continue with the series and look forward to meeting the rest of the crew.

Maddox family reunion? Sort of. From Here to You has some familiar faces and more stories to chase down. Jamie McGuire definitely wanted us to be teased, tranquilizer, and begging for more. I'm desperate for scraps even. From Here to You is a second chance, runaway bride, and all around sweet story. It has some terrible circumstances but it is a truly wonderful story. A "perfect" love story. I'm just going to omit the details...that way you feel right at home. Whether or not you are up to date on all things Maddox, you will definitely feel a need to be or find out more. So enjoy the visits from friends, love the sneak peeks, and hold your breath for more. Or breath but cross your fingers for more?! Yeah, that's seems more reasonable.

Jamie McGuire sucks readers into a heart-racing romance that proves love is worth fighting for. Darby Dixon learns she's pregnant on her wedding day, and still she finds the strength to walk away. At this point, I already loved this character because stepping into an unknown future for the sake of your safety and that of your unborn child takes much strength. Darby lands a job in the same hotel where Trex is staying. Also new to town, Trex and Darby strike up a friendship that could be put in jeopardy is Darby ever learns the truth Trex is hiding from her. On the surface they are not perfect for each other, but as they open up about themselves the more impossible it is to not see that they belong together. I love that over the course of the novel there is a wildfire raging out of control. There are many close calls for the brave firefighters that revolve in and out of the hotels so that adds a layer of anticipation throughout the story. There's a thread of suspense that follows Darby as she settles into her new life, because she may think she's escaped her abusive ex, but the threat of him popping up is always there. This novel will definitely put you through an emotional roller-coaster. I never had a chance to read any stories featuring the Maddox brothers, except for Beautiful Disaster, and I see I've clearly missed a lot! This spinoff series is off to a fiery start and perfect for longtime Maddox Brothers fans, or those new to the fold. Jamie McGuire's stories are relatable, or downright entertaining, for any kind of reader! *ARC provided in consideration for review*

I loved Trex and Darby from the first line of their story to the very last. The book is packed full of emotion pulling words and you will find yourself rooting for these two. This was one I couldn't put down. I can't wait to see who else gets a book from this series.

I was curious about Trex from his appearance in the Maddox Brothers books. He was so mysterious and I wondered who the heck “his people” were. I even remember not liking him at one point. Now that I’ve read it, I have to say that he was NOT what I expected. He was pretty freaking cute, has a great sense of humor and really appealed to me. I absolutely love him! And Darby... Gah! I related to her on so many levels. Both of them spoke to me deeply. There were so many times that I felt like one or both of them were speaking directly to me. I had to pause several times while reading and just let what they said sink in. This book came at just the right time in my life and I absolutely loved and adored it. Amazing read. I highly recommend it. Trex and Darby are definitely high on my list of favorite McGuire couples!

I really enjoyed this book. The first chapter had me hooked. Darby is more than just a runaway bride. She is a strong woman who doesn’t realize her own self-worth. But now there is more than just herself to worry about. Darby finds out that being pregnant drives a person to great lengths to make a better life. As Darby begins to build a new life for herself and her unborn child, she meets a great cast of characters that become her new family. The author did a great job creating well developed characters we instantly fall in love with. Initially thinking she was a weak person for putting up with an abusive partner for so long, Darby soon realizes that she really isn’t so weak after all. She relishes the freedom of saying ‘no” and finds strength and power in that one word. Trexler is an ex-marine, who is instantly besotted with Darby. Unfortunately, every time he asks her out, she says, “No.” But, Trexler isn’t one to give up. He soon starts to win Darby over and a true friendship builds. Something genuine and beautiful. Trexler is the perfect combination of strength and gentleness. “He was attracted to me, but he wasn’t trying to conquer me.” Unfortunately, secrets are still buried and as they do secrets always come to light and always hurt. At the very moment when things start to unravel, Darby’s ex-fiancé shows up and her worst nightmare ensues. This book is well written and an enjoyable read. It was suspenseful and captivating. The characters are well developed, interesting, and lovable. I loved the crossover with the Maddox brothers. It was beautiful to witness Darby realize she wasn’t some wounded dove and come into her own. Trexler, has become another addition to my book boyfriend list! I highly recommend this book. I read an ARC of this story via netgalley. My honest and fair review was voluntary.

Darby Dixon never thought her life would turn out quite like this, she currently finds herself sitting in a church bathroom hiding out from a despicable man that she supposed to marry, full well knowing that he doesn't love her the way he should, and she is emotionally and physically exhausted from the constant battles that they have. She knows there is no way she can survive a lifetime with him, especially now that she knows they are expecting a child, she just can't bring herself to subject her child to the kind of life she currently lives, her only option is to run. There is a good chance he will find her at some point, but staying just isn't an option, so she grabs her purse, and heads for a side door of the church that leads to her friends waiting vehicle and her ticket out of the crap storm she has found herself in. There has to be something better for her and her baby out there, and she is determined to find it, even if she has to give up everything she knows to do it, and who knows maybe someday she find the kind of love she has always dreamed about finding... maybe even sooner than she expected! Being a former Marine, means Scott "Trex" Trexler has seen the face of danger more times than he can count, and fortunately he has lived to tell about it, but doing so would mean he would have to face his demons and that just isn't something he is comfortable with. He wasn't ready to leave the service, but an injury he suffered while on duty made that decision for him, so now he does the next best thing; providing security for government facilities. His current top-secret mission has taken him to Colorado Springs, to the Cheyenne Mountain Complex, and to a town he has become to enjoy visiting. And one step closer to meeting the one woman he was meant to find... he has been dreaming of her for years now, and now that he has found her he has no plans of letting her go. Even if it means he has to fight for her... From Here To You is the first installment in the Crash and Burn series, and our introduction to Trex and Darby, two wounded souls in desperate need of saving. These two were quite the pairing, both scarred from their pasts, both struggling to overcome them, and both quite determined to not let them defy them. When they met one another, they meet the other half of themselves that they have been missing and never knew existed, and boy was it fun to watch them travel down this road of self discovery, and healing. It has been a while since I have read a book by this author, but within minutes of starting this story I was quickly reminded why I love her books so much, the feels they bring are incomparable, and can be deeply felt and are long lasting. I am really excited about this new series from her and I look forward to making return visits and having the opportunity to meet more of her endearing characters! I highly recommend you get your hands on this one, it's loaded with feels that are certain to put a major squeeze on your heart and linger with you long after the last page is swiped! I requested an advanced copy of this title from NetGalley, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.

From Here to You is an exciting and intriguing new read from author Jamie McGuire. From Here to You follows the story of Darby and Trex. When we first meet Darby, I couldn’t help but be intrigued by her story. We meet her just minutes before her wedding is about to start and she gets some life altering news. This news gives her the strength to get out of a terrible situation and try to create a new life for her and her unborn child. With only the clothes on her back and the cash she has on hand, Darby goes as far as her money will take her. Her new life may not be what she dreamed of, but if anyone deserves a second chance, it’s Darby…. From Here to You pulled me in instantly. I was so intrigued and couldn’t wait to read more. I found Darby really easy to relate to and loved how smart she was. She risked a lot by leaving her fiancee and trying to start over. She is the kind of woman you just want to hug and protect. She may not have been ready for Trex to come into her life, but I gotta tell you, he was just what the doctor ordered. Not only was he good looking, but he was patient, kind and determined. He believed in true love and soul-mates. He didn’t care about Darby’s past and the moment he realized that she was everything he was looking for, he would stop at nothing to protect and win her heart. Darby and Trex’s road to happily ever after wasn’t an easy one. There were definitely some bumps along the way. From secrets to lies and omissions of truth. From a past that just won’t stay buried. This story had turns that left me breathless and on the edge of my seat. Even with all that, this author delivered a heartfelt slow-burning second chance romance that just kept me begging for more. Overall, I found this story to be a truly enjoyable read. I loved the chemistry between the characters and the friendships built along the way. I loved seeing and spending time with familiar faces. I loved the drama and suspense. I loved the romance and swoon-worthy moments along the way. From Here to You was a terrific read from beginning to end.

I absolutely loved every single part of this book! From the moment we met Trex and Darby earlier in the Maddox brothers series, I was intrigued. When McGuire announced these two would be getting their own book I was beyond excited! A small town girl with a big heart finds herself in a truly difficult situation with no choice but to start over. You’ll be rooting for her from the very first page! Love at first sight, drama, mystery, additional glimpses into past books, and fun characters all come together to make one page-turning story! Can’t wait to see what else comes with the series.

From Here to You has everything I should love in a contemporary romance. A woman, Darby, skips out on her wedding day after finding out she is pregnant. The child gave her the strength to run from an abusive relationship. Trex was in the military, worked for the FBI and now works in a classified security job for a secret government project. He sees Darby working at the hotel he's checked into near his new job and instantly knows she is the woman for him. Trex will stop at nothing to convince Darby they are a perfect match. I was hooked right away to Darby's plight but where I should of been completely engaged I started to loose interest because the plot got caught up with immature, overreactions, and side plots that didn't feel pertinent to the storytelling. I started out loving it and ended up liking it. I received this ARC copy of From Here to You from Forever (Grand Central Publishing). This is my honest and voluntary review.
