Fulfilled Through Fear
When do we feel most alive? It's when something or someone grabs our attention and causes us to live with a passion for those things that are outside us. Think of falling in love or living for a cause. That's what fearing God does! It causes us to come alive by grabbing our attention and focusing us on the God who loves us. Fearing God is not the same as being afraid of God. Instead, fearing God is being overwhelmed by the infinite, loving, dangerous God and being fulfilled by that fear. Finding fulfillment by fearing God challenges the popular belief that we will be most fulfilled when we follow our hearts. Read this book with a heart that is open to being transformed.

What People are Saying About This

From the Publisher

“Although many do not understand this, fear is not always the wrong response in life. A holy and reverential fear of God, in fact, is needed for a godly and fulfilling life. This biblical, wise, and well written book by a veteran Christian minister and defender of the faith can do much to make us aware that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.”

—Douglas Groothuis, Distinguished University Research Professor of Apologetics and Christian Worldview, Cornerstone University

“As Paul Ricoeur insisted, the self knows itself only through others. If so, we know our true selves only through our Ultimate Other—God. This excellent book by Dean Halverson is both an eloquent reminder of this truth and a clarion call to seek and know God unreservedly, without whom we are but poor and tragic imitations of all that God wants us to be. Highly recommended!”

—See Seng Tan, President, International Students, Inc.

“Whether you believe in God or not, this book is a must-read! Dean presents a counterintuitive argument that we are ultimately and overwhelmingly fulfilled not by success, comfort, or even self-awareness but through fear of the infinite and dangerous God. Can this be true? Read and find out!”

—Darrell Dooyema, Director, Global Commerce

“Dean Halverson has the gift of taking challenging aspects of the scriptures and making them understandable. For those seeking truth, and more specifically, understanding of the fear of God, Dean’s book will bring clarity. As in other works Dean has written, his work is engaging, formative, and exhaustive in that he leaves the reader with a clear understanding of topic, with a clear understanding of what the next step could be.”

—Karl Garcia, Pastor, Clear Creek Community Church, Texas

“In the first conversation I had with Dean Halverson, over twenty-five years ago, I was immediately struck by his profound reverence for God. That passion to truly know God remains an illuminating flame that Dean now shares with us in Fulfilled Through Fear. His insights have helped me not only revere God but also desire to be ‘overwhelmed by God.’ They will do the same for you.”

—Craig Glass, Founder, Peregrine Ministries International
