Audience: It is intended for all current and future practicing psychiatrists.
Features: The book is divided into 16 chapters with an all-inclusive index. Each chapter is broken down into individual sections with clear narrative prose and easy to read figures, tables, and boxes of key facts with conclusion sections that provide well-rounded, bullet-point summaries. Chapters end with a further reading list that provides excellent references for readers wishing to delve into a specific area and questions that reinforce what was discussed in the chapter.
Assessment: The range of chapters provides a comprehensive examination of the area of geriatric psychiatry, truly distinguishing it as a unique field and not just as an application of general psychiatry to the geriatric patient. Chapters also cover legal issues, delirium, late-life substance abuse and the all important topic of psychiatry and medicine at the geriatric crossroads. Chapters such as these help make this book an excellent addition to the literature on geriatric psychiatry.
