On the fifth volume of his
Grand 12-Inches series of unmixed compilations,
Ben Liebrand selects another crop of extended and full versions, most of which originate from the late '70s and early '80s. As usual,
Liebrand and the label of release -- a division of
Sony in the Netherlands -- avoid single edits completely, and many of the selections are otherwise impossible or hard to find on compact disc. One of the more eclectic volumes in the series, this contains the 12" and extended dance versions of
the Human League's "Don't You Want Me," the extended remix of
Womack & Womack's "Teardrops," the album version of
the Floaters' lengthy "Float On," the long version of
the Three Degrees' "The Runner," and the original
Chic mix of
Diana Ross' "I'm Coming Out" -- the last of which had remained unreleased until the deluxe edition of
Diana. ~ Andy Kellman
