For traditionalists who can't handle the modern approach to gospel taken by new pioneers like Kirk Franklin, this type of project is the perfect antidote. It's hard-to-beat classic hymns, simply arranged and so easy to hum along to. The legendary quartet is still going strong after half a century, perfecting their spiritual barbershop harmonies on a collection of such classics as "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art." Adding to the traditional hymnal are versions of Willie Nelson's "Uncloudy Day" and Kris Kristofferson's tearjerking "Why Me Lord?" Perhaps in response to September 11, 2001, the group includes a close-to-the-vest version of Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA," featuring a break in the middle for "America the Beautiful." ~ Jonathan Widran
