About the Author

Mia Wenjen is the author of a number of award-winning children's books, including Sumo Joe and Food for the Future. She graduated from Harvard in History and Science and earned an M.B.A. from UCLA’s Anderson Graduate School of Management. She is the co-founder of Aquent, the world’s largest creative and marketing staffing firm, and the co-creator of Multicultural Children’s Book Day, a literacy nonprofit. She can be found online @PragmaticMom. Mia is passionate about multiculturalism and loves to entertain her audiences while presenting important concepts that build toward a positive future. She lives in Boston, Massachusetts, with her family.

Mary Atwood is an illustrator and designer exploring color, solving problems, and creating work inspired by her travels, folklore, nature, and Taiwanese-American heritage. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Advertising from the University of Texas at Austin, she moved to Seattle, Washington, to pursue her creative dreams—and has never looked back. She has enjoyed both in-house and freelance design roles over the past 10 years, illustrating and designing for a variety of projects including apparel, packaging, stationery, toys and, of course, picture books.
