About the Author

Tara Fontanoza was born in Omaha, Nebraska. Her Native American, Black American cultural heritage and life experiences are her motivations for creating equity in children’s literature. She enjoys telling stories that are relevant to today’s culture and education. Mrs. Fontanoza has spent her career teaching in K12 and higher education. Faith and the classroom are her biggest inspirations. Her accomplishments include graduating from Christian Life College located in Stockton, CA. She obtained an additional undergraduate and graduate degree from National University receiving a Master’s in Teaching with a Specialization in Reading. Tara is currently enrolled in a Doctor of Education Program in Education Leadership, Reading, Language, and Literacy at Concordia University Chicago.
