Overview

Half Brains: Sacred Water Book 1 by Charles Kaluza

The story opens with Daniel, the young Healer from the Forest, knocking on a door in the Northern Palace. He had been summoned to evaluate the King's daughter who is near death from appendicitis and bloodletting. He is confronted by the royal physicians who were ordered to allow Daniel to evaluate the Princess. His success creates jealousy in the palace, and Daniel finds himself facing a death sentence for violating a church rule for speaking out about the true nature of the half brains. He is rescued by the Princess and the half brain, Betty, who has a way of knowing things. Daniel is forced to flee to the safety of the Forest. War ensues when the Southern Kingdom seizes the source of the Sacred Water and denies all others access to this essential substance. Daniel and Heather join forces in the battle to save their peoples.

I wish someone had done spell check and context check before publishing. (princes for princess, course for coarse, etc) These kinds of errors make for a stop and start read (what word does he really want here?). Let's hope for better proofing in the next book of the series.

Sacred Water is exciting, while entertaining. Cannot wait for a follow on book.

it's not a bad book. good story line and a believable basis, but the writing is a little stilted, and the characters could have been developed better

I was enthralled.

Decent story with some good characters. Could use some editing. Basically a tale of kings, kingdoms, and church.

Kept me interested all the way through.

Loved the story and the characters. I really must give the author great credit for writing this series considering that he is dyslexic, which I can't even spell. BRAVO
