You've guessed it; it's the 24th outing for bounty hunter Stephanie Plum and her friends and family, including rootin'-tootin' Grandma Mazur, hooker-turned-bounty hunter Lula, and more. But no plot details; as usual, Evanovich is playing it close to the vest.

Zombies? Really? Plum fans know that the series has not thrived on its plots, but on its funny, quirky characters, especially their dialogue. So the best way to experience Evanovich is by having narrator Lorelei King bring to life Stephanie, Lula, Morelli, Ranger, Diesel, Grandma Mazur, and all the other lovable and sometimes despicable secondary characters. King’s skill in consistently projecting timbre, tone, intonation, and accent allows the listener to know immediately which character is speaking. She’s a master narrator who expertly conveys sexy males (and there are three in this book), females of different ethnicities, the young, and the very old. While Stephanie’s life remains frustratingly static, King’s performance of Lula and Grandma Mazur will still make listeners laugh out loud. E.Q. Simon Diggery and Ethel, his pet boa constrictor, were up a tree about fifty feet from Simon’s rust bucket doublewide.  Ethel looked comfy draped over a branch halfway up the tree.  Simon looked like death warmed over.  He was scrunched into a crook a couple feet below Ethel.  He was barefoot, wearing striped pajamas, and his grey hair was even more of a mess than usual.
