About the Author

Adele Heagney has worked in Rare Books, Youth Services and branch management for the St. Louis Public Library. She found her niche as the library's St. Louis History Specialist. She has a B.A. in journalism from the University of Wisconsin, and master's degrees in American history and library science from the University of Maryland. She and her husband, Mike Woolard, live in the Shaw neighborhood with dogs Gabby and Mona and Maisie the cat.

Jean Gosebrink is the Special Collections Specialist at St. Louis Public Library. She has worked at Indiana University Library and the Library of Congress. She has a master's degree in library science from Indiana University and a master's in African area studies from the University of California-Los Angeles.
