Purpose: The book begins with an explanation of the transition from classroom work to the internal medicine clerkship experience and moves to the bare facts in a bulleted format without much discussion or many references.
Audience: Medical students preparing for the clerkship experience are the intended audience, particularly those at the University of Pennsylvania, the home of the majority of the contributors.
Features: The book does present the basic medical facts medical students would be expected to know during their clerkship.
Assessment: While this book does have the basic information, it is another in a group of books written by medical school faculty members for rotations in their respective institutions, and this one offers nothing very unique. As with any preparation text, this is an adjunct to a student's preparation, and should not be solely relied upon in the daily practice of medicine.
