Homecomings: An Odyssey: An Unexpected Journey in Life
The fifty-six year old family secret has been exposed and now I get to finally meet my long lost sister who was given up at birth and adopted by the owners of the CopaCabana!
Years of hoping and searching are now coming to a climatic beginning, as my brother and I are waiting for our newly found sister to open the door so we can come home to each other and share our lives...but wait! Questions fill my head...what if we don't like each other? What if she rejects me for coming from a poverty stricken, drug smuggling, hippie background while she was raised in the limelight of the Copa with servants? How will our new sisterhood relationship affect the strong existing relationship I have with my two brothers, who have survived, thrived and persevered our lifelong struggle from the effects of our mother who was in and out of mental institutions while my brothers and I got shuffled back and forth to foster homes and orphanages? Will we have anything in common? How do I share all those turbulent years of attempted suicides by our mother? How do I shatter her fantasy of what our mom was really like?
I will go back to our mother's beginnings and describe how she grew up in the 1920's and 30's and was an alcoholic at age 15 yrs. old and how her promiscuous lifestyle caused her family shame and embarrassment for the struggling Brownsville, NY Jewish family.
She'll learn that her sister spent her youth trying to do everything to not turn out like our mom and made choices that took her through the hippie daze of the 60's in the flower power capital of the world, winning a precedent court case against the city of San Francisco, asked out by Wilt Chamberlain, being an international drug smuggler, traveling and living in Europe, driving from Amsterdam to Nepal, experiencing fifteen years of life in Hawaii and giving birth in the jungle without a doctor, owning and operating a successful property management business while being friends with George Harrison on the island of Maui.
But most important, we'll all learn how miraculously our sister was found and the last promise that was made by our aunt to our grandmother, to 'find the missing daughter'.
This "Homecoming" culminates in four incredible, emotional days with all of the siblings together under one roof, processing all the emotions, speculating on the theories of what took place all those years ago, finding so many similarities and at the same time discovering the undeniable resemblance, of our returned sister, who looks like our mother!
This odyssey spans from 1908 through 2001...Two sisters who love each other dearly and continue to 'make' new memories and experiences and create a family who has been returned to each other.

About the Author

From humble beginnings in Flatbush, Brooklyn, New York, tossed back and forth between orphanages, foster homes and a disturbed, bipolar parent...she made her way to San Francisco in the 1960's and was immersed in the hippie culture while selling her wares as a street vendor. She travelled to exotic locations such as Ibiza, Morocco, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Kashmir, Katmandu and the island of Maui, Hawaii, where she wielded her machete in the jungle.

At the age of 54 she uncovered the "family secret" of a long lost sister, who was adopted by the owners of a famous nightclub and they found each other.

With many unexpected twists and turns, her journey is at times raw and transparent and she shares it with you the reader.
