ABOUT THE STORY

This is a true story. I started writing this story in late May 2022, when our neighbors brought home a new puppy. They called him Jake. When we introduced our Honey Bear to Jake she seemed to have found a long awaited friend. Honey Bear has always been isolated and seldom saw other dogs. This was her new focus in life.

About the Author

Uncle Jim, legally known as James Lawrence Wilgus, is a Mechanical Engineer. His wife was a fourth grade school teacher and his daughter is currently an early childhood educator. They were a significant influence on his life’s goals after being absorbed in engineering for 32 years. They made the transition easy since he is a natural writer.

With all the challenges of an entrepreneur starting new companies, he found great satisfaction in writing short stories. He has always been a creative person, still enjoys creating and finds great pleasure in writing for children. He finds the imagination of young open minds very stimulating.

Uncle Jim holds several patents and copyrights. His most prominent creation was CUBIES reusable ice cubes. Using his creative abilities, he started writing whatever came to mind on all subjects. Uncle Jim considers himself more of a writer than an author, because most of what he writes is for self-satisfaction and not ready for publication. He has written short stories, poems, memoirs and letters. When his daughter read his children’s stories, she convinced him to make them available to other children.

In 2011, he published his first book, DO ROCKS HAVE BABIES? It’s a children’s book that teaches the beauty and diversity of nature as told by Rocky. His latest book, SPARKLES HELPS SANTA, is being self-published for release in Christmas 2022. The story is so charming it should be a movie. Maybe that will be his next career. He also published I’M ONLY A CHILD.

In the works, a series of 7 books about the unique animals on the 7 continents. The basic title is HI NEIGHBOR.
