Hoover's Handbook of Emerging Companies 2005 by Hoover's

Part of a four-volume set of handbooks on business (the others profile American business, American private companies, and global companies), this volume contains profiles of 600 American companies with sales between $10 million and $1 billion that have shown sales growth and profit in the last three years (ending November 2004). Each entry contains an overview of the company, its strategy, reputation, and ownership. A longer history is also provided for the larger companies. The entry continues with a list of the companies executives, its locations, products/operations, competitors, and historical financials. The latter includes a 10-year table with revenue, net income, net profit margin, stock price, high and low price/earnings ratio, earnings per share, dividends per share, book value per share, and employees, as well as year-end statistics, such as debt ratio, return on equity, cash and cash equivalents, and total long-term debt. Several lists preceding the company profiles provide rankings of those companies that were the most profitable, most valuable, largest employers, and so on. There are three indexes, all comprehensive of the four-volume set: by industry, by headquarters location, and by executive name. Annotation ©2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
