Elkerton's animated illustrations and Walstead's silly, catchy rhymes work together to portray the Christmas Eve chaos that ensues when Jolly Old Saint Nick is being chased. The kids try their best to catch Santa, with traps such as a Christmas flower offering, a suspiciously out-of-place book, and the tempting combination of a comfortable chair and a delicious snack. Readers who pay close attention to the pictures will see all of the mischief his trusty Elf sidekick gets into while Santa delivers presents.
