How to Manage Your Money When You Don't Have Any
Unlike many personal finance books, How to Manage Your Money When You Don't Have Any was specifically written for Americans who struggle to make it on a monthly basis. It provides a respectful, no-nonsense look at the difficult realities of our modern economy, along with an easy-to-follow path toward better financial stability that will give hope to even the most financially strapped households. Created by a financial expert who hasn't struck it rich, this guide offers a first-hand story of financial survival in the face of rough times. Rather than emphasizing wealth creation, How to Manage Your Money When You Don't Have Any teaches listeners to do the best they can with their income no matter its size. Content rich, personal, and jargon free, the book is opinionated, at times humorous, and full of current everyday references.

Wecks here provides a user-friendly path to financial stability, basing many of his foundational premises on best-selling financial guru Dave Ramsey (The Total Money Makeover). These premises include eliminating debt and using cash for as many purchases as possible. Wecks differs from Ramsey in his overall philosophy, though. Wecks does not assume you will become rich by following his plan; his goal is for the listener to become financially stable, meaning that one does not spend more than one earns. Wecks recommends starting with a financial mission and developing a strategy to accomplish that mission and provides tactics to realize that strategy. Wecks believes listeners' mission should be to gain stability in their finances. The blueprint for obtaining this is to live below their means, live without debt, and follow a financial road map. The tactics are straightforward, beginning with achieving a zero balance monthly budget. Narrator Neil Hellegers uses a friendly, nonjudgmental voice to provide a safe learning atmosphere. VERDICT Part cheerleading, part solid financial advice, part easy-to-follow instructional, this audiobook will help people struggling every month to pay their bills.—Jason L. Steagall, Gateway Technical Coll. Lib., Elkhorn, WI
