When two young girls, Susan Watkins and Shirley Dupree are kidnapped and held for ransom their parents are frantic. The kidnappers specifically state that no police are to be called or the girls will die. Shirley’s father, Raymond calls the only man that he knows can help him, a former marine “brother” who knows how to handle special problems. Sam Rufus aka “Hurricane” is on the case in no time. He has all of the latest technology available to help locate the girls. When clues lead them to suspects that are involved in the kidnapping, Hurricane is not above using any techniques of torture or force to get information from them. Hurricane proves worthy of his nickname by leaving destruction and injury to anyone who gets in his way. The story is action packed. The fight scenes are very descriptive and make you feel like you are right there in the middle of it all. The book has some of everything in it from danger and intrigue to loyal friendships and love. Hurricane’s character is a combination of a modern day Walker Texas Ranger and Jean Claude Van Dame. He is a skilled fighter and afraid of nothing. I enjoyed the book very much and I think that it would appeal to young adults and adults of all ages. I would give it 5 stars. It was easy to read and had a surprising twist in it. I especially enjoyed the part of the book when it showed a gentler side of Hurricane when he meets Janice, the girl of his dreams. This gives the story a whole new dimension. Even though the story line has been done in other books, the author’s addition of the unexpected twist from the past puts a refreshing spin on an old plot. I look forward to reading more of Joseph Cacciotti’s books and can’t wait for Hurricane’s next adventure in love and life.
