Kyle Sullivan is a writer based in Portland, Oregon. His titles for children include Hobgoblin and the Seven Stinkers of Rancidia, The Cyclops Witch and the Heebie-Jeebies, Monster ABC, Hush Now, Banshee! and Goodnight Krampus.

Derek Sullivan is a Seattle-based illustrator. One little Banshee is looking for some fun.
“It sure seems quiet. Where is everyone?”

Two round ghosts are reading books by the lake—
“Heeey!” cries Banshee like a roaring earthquake.
The ghosts scream “Ahh!” and together they plead:
“Hush now, Banshee! We’re trying to read!”

Three hobgoblins are dozing in the muck—
“Hiiii!” yells Banshee like a wailing firetruck.
The hobgoblins jump right out of their clothes:
“Hush now, Banshee! We’re trying to doze!”

Four sleepy locals are fishing on the dock—
“Heyo!” screams Banshee like a loud alarm clock.
They jump in the water with a splash and a splish:
“Hush now, Banshee! We’re trying to fish!”

Five bog monsters are cleaning up their place—
“Hiya!” shrieks Banshee like a meteor from space.
The bog monsters tremble as if it’s Halloween:
“Hush now, Banshee! We’re trying to clean!”

In the sibling author-illustrator team’s addition to their series of chunky board books, impish Banshee has blue skin and long, white hair—but she’s far more cute than scary. She likes to interrupt “quiet time” among other mythical creatures: “Five bog monsters are/ cleaning up their place—/ Hiya! shrieks Banshee like/ a meteor from space.” Some similes don’t quite hit the mark, but the many characters possess the sprightly energy of animated cartoons.
