I Want to Disappear is the fifth LP from Bay Area pop-punks the Story So Far. Since debuting in 2011, the band has enjoyed a prolific run, releasing four albums in six years while incrementally climbing the Billboard charts to a Top 20 placement with 2018's Proper Dose. Since then, they've undergone a series of growing pains, splitting with founding bassist Kelen Capener and enduring the inevitable life changes of rock musicians aging into their thirties. Instead of charging back into the studio, the remaining quartet of Parker Cannon (vocals), Kevin Geyer (lead guitar, vocals), Ryan Torf (drums, bass, keys), and Will Levy (guitar) patiently waited for a communal window of time that would allow them to focus and regroup with a set of songs that reflected their present state. Introspective yet still aggressive, I Want to Disappear is a maturation of their core sound: tight modern rock, rooted in West Coast pop-punk and emo. Led by the singles "Big Blind" and "Letterman," it's an energetic collection with melodies to carry it and a refined but still vital sound. ~ Timothy Monger
