Overview

I'M JACK & I'M BACK: The Basement Pit, sequel to critically acclaimed novel, I'm Jack & I Want More, is a suspenseful revenge-driven thrill ride about the consequences of one man's struggles as a result of reckless choices. Raw truths build and merge during this gritty, meandering tale illustrating non-traditional integrity and dysfunctional passions. Films and books have emerged about infamous Cleveland gangsters and their real-life battleground in Collinwood. I'm Jack & I'm Back is a fictional account of the aftermath of the vicious Cleveland Bomb Wars of 1976. This book reveals an untold story of one family's loss and suffering, while made-men, outlaw bikers and inner-city thugs are pitted against one another in a struggle for power and money. Without the guidance of his streetwise father, Jack's son and Rocco's bereaved sister and mother become prey as a result of scams concocted to gain even more control. The family realizes why gameness is life itself and how respect and loyalty are as rare as they are priceless. In this gritty tale of graphic brutality leading up to and following a Pit-bull fighting for life, Rocco finds himself boxed-in as the main event with no foreseeable way out...not without his family being further victimized. They learn that things aren't the way they seem and people are not as they appear, while danger escalates along with drug abuse. In this saga of graphic violence, contrasted by very dark humor, Rocco realizes that the best way to escape further pain is to confront it head-on. This emotional roller-coaster offers twists and turns within the all too often dark world of the American Pit Bull Terrier as well as stratified change-ups found in the always murky worlds of addiction and organized crime.

About the Author

Author of the sequel, I'm Jack & I'm Back: The Basement Pit, and of critically acclaimed, I'm Jack & I Want More, as well as an educational book on the history of the American Pit-bull Terrier titled Fighting for Life, turned 19 in 1969. As a gang member in the murder capitol of America, non-traditional morality imprinted the first 26 years of life in an Italian-American community made famous by the Collinwood race riots of the 1960s and later by documentaries and Hollywood films, as well as from novels and non-fiction books written about that very unique piece of 20th century American history.

As with martial arts, existential dilemma helped define meaning for a retired gang member and ex-abuser turned conformation judge. That tenure as a judge and breeder resulted as induction into the American Dog Breeders Association's (ADBA) Dog-man Hall of Fame. Having judged in seven countries for over 45 years help combat owner abuse and Breed Specific Legislation. Setting an example for the true value of gameness in general and respect for the loyalty and versatility of game-bred animals came by way of promoting legal competition and in a series of articles printed in the ADBA Gazette.

Growing up in Collinwood for a quarter of a century, and then working for over a decade as an Internationally Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor, crisis interventionist, lecturer and primary counselor, plus as facilitator of a group titled "Spirituality for Nontraditional Believers," provided the basis for an intense yet darkly humorous writing style from dealing with the murkier and vulnerable, as well as with more ominous sides, of human nature.

Currently, the author is enjoying early retirement while living in rural N.E. Ohio. Hobbies include raising dogs and horticulture, bocce ball and FreeCell, cooking and baking, watching MMA and researching for a sixth book.
