Kathleen B. Digre, MD, specializes in neuro-ophthalmology and headache and practices at the John A. Moran Eye Center, University of Utah, Salt Lake City. She evaluates and treats complex visual complaints which can be due to optic nerve or brain disease. Dr. Digre sees patients with complex neuro-ophthalmic disorders such as papilledema, photophobia, visual loss, and diplopia. She also treats migraine headaches and other unusual headache disorders. She is listed in Best Doctors in America.

Description: A collaborative effort between radiologists and neurologists, this book is specifically directed at the neurology community as opposed to the imaging community. It provides an overview of common conditions encountered by neurologists and reviews expected imaging findings in these conditions.
Purpose: The authors aim to provide an overview of imaging findings in conditions commonly presenting to neurologists, detailing the key findings to look for to make a diagnosis. The authors follow the bulleted format characteristic of these books and present salient points in terminology, imaging findings, clinical issues, and pathology.
Audience: The authors are on the mark with their target audience of neurologists. The book is too basic for radiologists and radiology trainees, but is well suited to those in clinical neurology. The book contains not only imaging cases, but also artist-rendered pictures of the disease process. Where relevant, it includes photos of clinical manifestations of the disease process. The authors are renowned for their work, particularly Dr. Osborn, and are uniquely qualified to author this book.
Features: The book's two parts cover the brain and the spine. Each part consists of subsections covering an array of topics including infection, neoplasm, trauma, degenerative diseases, etc. Chapters include introductions of abbreviated, one- to two-page discussions of what is to be covered, followed by short sections describing imaging findings and relevant pearls. The image quality is excellent and is supported by the artist renderings of the disease process. A very nice corollary is the clinical images provided for many of the cases. This is very helpful for readers to obtain a well-rounded view of the clinical presentation with respect to the imaging findings. Access to an online version comes with the book, but the site was not available at the time of review.
