The wound inflicted only a few minutes before was nearly healed. A small cut was the only sign that anything had occurred. I watched in disbelief as it finished closing and eventually disappeared.

Okay so it starts off a lot like Twilight. Alina is a cute, if somewhat clutzy girl, and two grogeous guys are vying for her attention. Samuel is nice if a little standoff-ish who is reluctant to show how he really feels. Duncan is a smooth Casanova with no qualms about showing how he feels and will do anything to be close to her. Halfway through the book though it switches gears and departs from Twilight cutting its on course. Trust me you will not see the twist coming. It ends in a cliffhanger that leaves you wanting more. One downside, like Twilight, the begining moves a little slow, but it does hold your interest. Once some of the secrets are revealed the book moves faster towards the climax which left me wanting more. If you liked Twilight then I would recomend picking Immortal up. I can't wait for the next book in the series Forever, to see what happens and who Alina will choose.

Even though I felt this book had similarities to the Twilight series (girl meeting unbelievably super handsome guy in class that all the girls are after, girl being swept away from "hunter" that is after her because of new guy, the debate of changing her or not, being taken to meet one of the oldest Immortals that wants her changed or killed)it had a lot of twists that kept me interested. Main character meets not one but two guys that end up being immortal. Not knowing throughout the book if one of them is good or bad was a great plot point and kept me hooked. I would catch myself thinking I'd figured out the plot and then it would change which was great. I am looking forward to reading the next one in this series.

Alina's day is just getting worse. First there is getting home from her dad's place in California. Flying is unnatural and Alina is absolutely terrified when in the air, so to keep herself distracted she tries reading but can not keep her mind on the book. As she hears a commotion at the front of the plane she spots one of the most entrancing guys she has ever seen. His eyes are a deep ocean blue and he is well built. He ends up sitting just opposite of her on the plane. She finds herself constantly looking at him, as if!. If that was not bad enough, when her mom picks her up at the airport and takes her home, she finds everything that belongs to her packed up in boxes and ready to be gone. Knowing she would be moving out for college was one thing; the coldness of the actual event is another. On her first day of class, the guy from the plane sits next to her. He attracts attention like a flame attracts a moth. She studiously looks away but sees all the other girls watching. There is something about him... something different. It is during class introductions that she learns his name is Samuel. Just being next to him in class keeps her heart racing, making it impossible to concentrate on the assignments. In her second class as she is waiting for the professor to show, she hears a wonderful, deep purring voice, asking if the seat next to her is free. She finds herself sinking into a pair of incredible green eyes, belonging to an exceptionally attractive guy. He too seems to have that certain charisma, which has every eye turning his way. But he appears to have eyes just for her. He introduces himself as Duncan as he takes the seat next to her. She can feel him staring at her through out the class and she is not sure how to handle the attention. Each day is a new struggle for her, as Duncan is steady in his pursuit, while she can tell that Samuel likes her as well, he is more standoffish. For some reason she is more drawn to Samuel, although both of them are extremely handsome and charismatic. Duncan chooses to get close to her through her best friend Tabby, but in Alina's world that makes Duncan off limits. As Duncan sees her interest shift directly to Samuel he takes a risk and reveals his true nature to her. He then gives her the background on both himself and Samuel, thereby also revealing Samuel's secret. His goal is to direct her feeling back to him by revealing Samuel's dark past. Little do they know that this knowledge has put her in imminent danger. As I began reading Lauren Burd's Immortal, I was initially disappointed that it seemed to be following in the path of the Twilight series. We have these handsome guys, they have that certain something, a charisma that attracts, and Alina, our young heroine is a pale, brooding girl who somehow seems to be extremely attractive to them, more so then any other. What sent me in a different direction, was that Alina actually has some very close female friends that will do anything for her. In return she is also very protective of them. As the narrative continues, Alina finds out that the guys are both vampires, and that they have a story from their pasts that puts them at odds with each other. Lauren Burd has developed a group of very likeable characters. Alina really cares about her friends and puts their feelings ahead of her own. While she moves too quickly into decisions, this

I really don't know what book everyone else were reviewing so wonderfully, but it sure is not this one. Any money you're willing to part with to buy this book, should stay in the bank!

The storyline dragged on with useless details. The charcter development as well as that of the relationships between them is not there. Overall the plot and themes were corny as well as trite and left a lot to be desired.

I was sorry to read what seems to be a draft of a story instead of a fully developed (and certainly poorly edited) novel. My teenage daughter was appalled at the grammar! I agree that the similarities to Twilight are striking and only serve to undermine what might have been a more compelling story. I began to like the characters after what started out as a painful-to-read beginning. I am hoping the next book is better, but knowing the usual fate of sequels, I don't hold out much hope.

This was an obvious rip off of Twilight but didn't have a plot. The characters were boring and halfway through you're still waiting for something to happen. I couldn't even bring myself to finish it. I lost interest around page 30 but stayed with it for another 150 pgs or so. I am an avid reader and have read over 40 books this year alone. To find a book that I couldn't finish is a rarity so I guess on that note it scored big. Don't waste your time

this just seemed like a HUGE rip off of Twilight if you have read Twilight, then dont bother with this book, because its honestly THE SAME THING SPOILER two paranormal guys fall for the same girl(edward and jacob) girl feels like she isnt good enough for either of them Girls parents are divorced(so are bellas parents) guys need to protect girl from being killed girl goes to meet person who wants to kill her because she wants to keep her family safe (bella goes to save her mom) its pathetic really, that Lauren Burd cant come up with her own ideas like i said though, i thought it was a waste of time because i have already read twilight and i was irritated that someone actually had the nerve to practically copy and paste from twilight and call it off as her own if you havent read twilight and vampires and stuff interest you, then this is a pretty good book to pass time but if your a twilight lover, you WILL hate it

This book is really good but it's kind of like Twilight. You might think that this book is like all about vampires but it isnt. I love Samuel and hate Duken! I cried at the end of immortal and i usually dont cry at the end of books. I also tried real hard not to through my nook on the floor and jump on it! Thankfully i didnt, if i did my parents would have killed me. The only parts the same as twilight is when Bella goes in the woods with Edward and finds out that he is a vampire and in immortal when Duken and Alina go on a walk and she finds out that Dukten and Samuel are" IMMORTAL" ( hint, hint the title of the book). Not vampires there are no vampires in this book in this book. So please stop saying it is like Twilight and The Vampire Diaries! IT ISN'T ! This is a great book and love reading it.

At first when I read the summary, I thought (oh, it doesn't really sound like Twilight), but I was wrong. It's just like Twilight. Let me give you a quick summary. Girl goes to college. Girl meets two awesome guys that she is drawn to. Girl almost gets hit by car, but is saved by one of the guys. Finds out they're immortals (which is like vampires, but less blood). Other immortals find girl and want to change her. The guys take her away to save her. Other immortals threaten girl's friends and family, so girl gives herself up. Need I say more? Another Twilight copy. Come on people! Is it too hard to wright a book that doesn' t copy someone else?

Even though i could see major similarities with the Twilight series, I found myself hooked by the characters and the plot twist at the end. I'm a very critical reader and still think it was worth the 99 cents. I can't wait for the sequel!!

This is the first vampire story that I've read since the Twilight series. Several rewiews suggested that this was a twilight wanna be. I can see that along with a mixture of Vampire Diaries. It is a series so I think it has potential. It was decent, but something was missing...character development, kind of choppy writing. If the rest of the series is on sale I'll read another, wouldn't pay full price though.

This book was stumbled upon by me when I had a urge to read a book. I had just seen the number of stars it had and considered the price. I thought this was a pretty good buy as it cost me no more than 99 cents. I had read the views when reading the details of the view and could not help noticing that many of the comments said something similar along the range of the Twilight saga. After I started to read the book, I really did notice many similarities in where the author seemed to copy off Twilight. I found this book was very interesting and a good way to pass the time,so if you love something off the line of vampires, romance, and something very similar to Twilight then this is the book for you.

I thought this was a really good story but it was kind of slow and at some parts i got lost. By te end i dint want to put it down though. One review i read said it was a mix of twilight and the vampire diaries, and they were right. The book was over all good d if you want something that you can just sit down ad rea then thi is the book fr you.

In all honesty, I have never read a book that I have seriously disliked. Sadly, I finally found one. The first thing this book needs is some serious editing. Half of the time I found myself on a mental tirade about how awfully written it was that I forgot to pay attention to what I was reading. I forced myself to actually read over half of it, and finally gave up and skimmed a forth of it. The beginning of the book consists of her taking numerous showers, the exact same conversations over and over "So, how are classes?" with one of the guys to the point that the first time they had a real conversation I realized that rather than showing dialogue the author just stated that they were having one. Also, every time one of the guys talks their voice is either silky or smooth, and always "wraps around" her name. One guy's eyes are always either a forest or a jungle. Not to mention that the next day after she finds out about Immortals she has a hunter on her and everything starts happening at once, whereas the first half of the book was about school. The book and characters are shallow and superficial and the 'plot twist' at the end wasn't very surprising and incredibly lame. In all honesty, it was a waste of both .99 cents and my time and I am still reeling from how bad it was.

loved this book, just as much if not more than twillight. I can't wait to start the next book.

This book should never have made it out of production!! To think that some publisher allowed this 'Twilight' knockoff is unthinkable. The only thing worse is that I was persuaded to purchase it after reading a similar review just because of it's price. I have only sent in two reviews even though I purchase an average of two books a week, and most times even if I don't think a book is great I keep my opinions to myself. This book offended me so much though, that I had to let others know.
