As a journalism adviser, I found this to be an incredibly valuable resource. Harrower presents bite-sized bits of usable information to beginning and experienced reporters in high school and college newsrooms. Covering a plethora of topics from press law and lead writing to photo journalism and broadcast journalism, Inside Reporting is a useful guide to how to work in a newsroom. The first half of the book is devoted to journalism issues, and the second half provides examples of stories used in the text. No snoozer, this book, Harrower also takes his own design advice and draws the reader in with great sidebars, quick quizzes, interesting photos and illustrations, and the articles tend to be brief. Together with the Newspaper Designer's Handbook, no student newspaper should be without one.
