A book where the romance is just as dangerous as the crime....
FBI Agent Devon Mitchell is trying everything he can to move on with his life.
Except he can't.
After losing the one person he loved more than life itself, he struggles to carry on with the guilt and burden of letting her go. When a new assignment in his old hometown lands on his desk, he can't help but feel drawn to it.
Drawn to her...
But this isn't a case he was assigned, but a secret undercover mission that could ruin his career if his cover is blown.
Tegan Anderson wishes for a normal life. Pushing her way through college, she finds herself in dead end relationship number three-except this time, the guy is into something far more dangerous than your usual twenty-three-year-old is involved in.
Drugs, dirty money, and casino debts are just a few things her ex has found himself wrapped up in.
When the people he owes money come looking for him, she finds herself in a situation that could be the difference between life and death.
With the odds stacked against them, and a herd of angry men after them, can Devon and Tegan survive the mayhem that is about to ensue? Can they overcome the past or will it shatter both of them?
Sometimes, love isn't enough, but could theirs be truly invincible?

This book was great. I love J.L. Beck and this book didn't disappoint. Devon appears in the other two books in this series. You don't know much about Devon's past from the other books so it was great to get to finally read his story. Devon is haunted by his past and love he left behind. Devon didn't have a good childhood at all and he wanted to get away and be better. He thought by breaking up with Tegan she would go to college and find someone who deserved her. How wrong he was. Tegan was devastated by Devon leaving and now finds herself in a horrible situation. Devon is forced to take some time off from the FBI and right before he leaves he sees a case that is in his home town. He figures that by now Tegan has moved on to better things and he won't run into her. Boy was he wrong turns out the case leads right to Tegan and she is in the middle of it. He is forced to face all his feeling for Tegan while trying to do his job. Will he be able to do his job and get Tegan back. This book was packed with action. Devon and Tegan find themselves in the middle of something big. Devon is doing his best to protect her and get to the bottom of what is going on. Tegan is forced to face all her feelings for Devon and realizes she still feels the same way about him. Will they be able to have a second chance or will they stuck with their anger and hurt from the past. Tegan didn't have a stellar child hood either. She started going to school but then had to stop when her ex drug her into the middle of his mess and then took off. I loved the ending and how everything came together. Can't wait to see if any of these characters make an appearance in any future J.L. Beck books. I love all the characters in this series and would love to read more about them. Another great book J.L. Beck. I was given this book in return for an honest review.
Invincible is the third book in the Kingpin Series. This is the story of Devon and Teagan. We got a glimpse of Devon in Book 2 and even then, I was totally intrigued with his character. I was so happy to find out that this book was his story. And even happier to find out he was as awesome as I hoped he would be. This book is not as dark as the first two in the series but it still had my heart pounding during some parts and breaking during others. There was also a mystery/suspense aspect because we knew something was going on but never got the full story so it kept me guessing. I wasn’t able to figure out the twist at the end so the author did a great job keeping that aspect hidden. Invincible was told from both Devon and Teagan’s points of view. This made the various situations in the story more intense. We also got to see Zerro in his new role which was pretty cool. If you haven’t read this series yet, I highly recommend that you do! J.L. Beck has a great mix of suspense, romance, heart pounding action, jaw-dropping endings, and a whole lot of sexy all rolled together in this series.
Indebted by J.L. Beck J.L. Beck is new to me. I haven’t read anything by Beck before. I found that I thoroughly enjoy her style. As I read I could insert myself into the world she created. I loved meeting Zerro and Bree. Bree’s father owes the mafia a boat ton of money. When Zerro comes to collect he takes Bree as payment since her father can’t pay. This book has so many twists and turns it’s amazing. I love watching the interaction between the characters. To see how the relationships evolve. I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review. Inevitable by J.L. Beck Picking up where Indebted ends the drama builds and the strength of personalities comes out. We learn about many things that were behind the scenes the first book. I love the drama and I didn’t see even half the twists coming. I loved that. I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review. Invincible by J.L. Beck This book is about Devon – who we met in Inevitable – and Tegan. We get to see into the past of Devon to learn why he is where and what he is. This character development style was freaking fantastic. I can’t imagine the books without him. Watching Tegan and Devon interacting and dealing with their own personal demons was enlightening. I love all the curvy twists in this book. I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review.
