About the Author

Renée Kurilla is the illustrator of the #1 New York Times bestseller Just Because by Matthew McConaughey, and the author and illustrator of It's Fall!, The Flower Garden, and One Springy, Singy Day. “Colors bursting, shadows tall. / There’s lots to celebrate—it’s fall!” When a teacher asks a class of diverse students what they love about autumn, they outline their favorite things in an easily recited rhyme: cozy clothes, piles of leaves, scarecrows, corn mazes, apple picking, and, of course, Halloween—“Ringing doorbells… / Trick or treat! / Marching down a spooky street.” What else do the kids enjoy? The sounds of leaf blowers and lawn mowers and traditional Thanksgiving foods like turkey and mashed potatoes. “Fall has treasures to be found / in colors, textures, smells, and sounds. / It’s so much fun—we love it all.” Black-outlined drawings in orange, rust, and yellow hues depict a bustling neighborhood with all the aspects described in the cheerful text. Endpapers provide additional fare in a gallery of childlike crayon-style drawings, ostensibly created by the characters in the book.
