About the Author

Christopher Lilley is a Christian, an opera singer, a teacher, and a youth music minister. The New York native began writing poetry seriously in 2013. Specializing in spoken word poetry, Chris developed a love for the written word through his love for the Bible as well as the writings of Langston Hughes and Georgia Douglass Johnson. His start in writing seriously began with Word Up: The Spoken Word Project, a ministry of New Testament Temple Church of God in the Northeast Bronx. Currently, he serves as a senior member of the group as well as a performance coach of sorts. He has also has the privilege to perform nationwide as a part of the poetry collective, True Voices.
