Reviewed by Jack Magnus for Readers' Favorite Keaghan in the Tales of Dreamside: The Dreamside Omnibus (Books 1 through 5) is a fantasy series for children and preteens written by J. Daniel Batt. Keaghan has an older brother who's not always terribly nice to him and a younger sister who's a pain in the butt. They live with their folks in a house which always seemed rather normal to Keaghan, until one day, while he was preoccupied, he turned down three dream corners that should not have been there. He found himself in a strange place filled with familiar things that had long been lost, toys, clothing, kitchen utensils, all kinds of stuff. Keaghan is even more surprised when he hears voices and meets the oddest creatures: one is constructed of balls and debris and has a broken dish for a face and the other seems made of twigs and smoke. Keaghan learns that he has entered the Dreamside where the Knitters fix the holes made by the dreams of great dreamers like him. There is one rule though that must always be followed when in the Dreamside: one can never go backward, but always forward. J. Daniel Batt's children and preteen fantasy series, Keaghan in the Tales of Dreamside: The Dreamside Omnibus (Books 1 through 5) is a marvelous epic fantasy that is contemporary and timeless all at once. Keaghan's travels in the Dreamside take him into some pretty perilous places, and he gets to know some stalwart companions and encounter some downright scary villains. Batt's creative genius is paired with a gift for writing fast-paced, exciting prose that is accessible both to kids and adults who enjoy fantasy. I found myself enjoying every minute spent following Keaghan as he maneuvers through his alternative world. This is epic fantasy that entertains and fully involves the reader. It's highly recommended.

Reviewed by Faridah Nassozi for Readers' Favorite Keaghan in the Tales of Dreamside: The Dreamside Omnibus is a collection of five stories in the Dreamside series by J. Daniel Batt. While home alone from school one day, Keaghan accidentally stumbled into a part of his world that he did not know existed, the world beyond, the unseen side of his home, the Dreamside. The Dreamside is another part of this world that exists, unknown to man. It is another part of our world that we can never imagine existed, but Keaghan got to experience it more than once. The Dreamside series take you on an exciting ride into the world beyond the walls of your house as you follow Keaghan's adventures as he makes his trips to the Dreamside. With each new book in the series, the Dreamside presents new surprises for Keaghan and new challenges for him to overcome. This is the story of Keaghan in the Dreamside and the different creatures, good and bad, that occupy that part of the world, and how his presence in the Dreamside changes things in the magical world.  Keaghan in the Tales of Dreamside: The Dreamside Omnibus is filled with exciting stories of magical places, strange and interesting creatures and a once in a lifetime adventure that will give readers, both young and old, an out of this world experience. With each new chapter, the story keeps getting more and more exciting and this omnibus gave me the opportunity to read all five stories at once. The language and writing style fit the story perfectly and vividly bring the whole adventure to life. This is a very exciting story and all you need is time, a comfortable seat and a mind open to possibilities beyond your everyday life. J. Daniel Batt wrote a unique and very interesting series and kids will totally love it, as will adults.

Reviewed by Alysha Allen for Readers' Favorite Who said that a home is composed of four walls and a roof? Those who have never ventured past the three dream corners that are within each of our homes, leading to the Dreamside where adventures begin and dreams morph into reality. A seemingly normal young boy, Keaghan, stumbles accidentally into the Dreamside of his own home. Throughout the course of the series, Keaghan must travel to bizarre and magical realms to save his family and millions of other families around the world from falling prey to a home where only detached aloofness exists and love has no place. Will Keaghan be able to muster the courage to defend Dreamside from also falling apart in order to save his own? Although not a young child anymore, I do believe that not only those who are more than ten or twenty years our junior will be heartily entertained, but those whose charge it is to read to these youngsters will appreciate this whimsical narrative. J. Daniel Batt’s Keaghan in the Tales of Dreamside Omnibus ranks amongst The Brave Little Toaster and The Boxtrolls, written as it is with such verve and liveliness that its images vividly imprint themselves upon the reader’s imagination, as any intriguing children’s animation film. The characters that Keaghan befriends and meets on his expeditions through Dreamside are penned with dazzling texture: amiable Knitters composed of crayons, sticks, and discarded toys; beastly Sloars that feed off family members’ animosities toward one another; and punk-rock tattooed Skroints are some, along with many other fantastical creatures that will delight and inspire children's imaginations.  Similarly, on their journey with Keaghan through the Dreamside within his house, Batt encourages his young readers with the meaningful and important lesson to move forward ceaselessly with courage and curiosity to face all of the wondrous possibilities that await us on the morrow. Furthermore, Keaghan’s adventures teach the value of dreams, both sleeping and awake, and the power of the imagination; the lesson to never let our past mistakes and failures limit what we can do or shape who we are capable of being.
