Overview

Florida MC Canton Jones took the gospel-rap world by storm in the '00s by spreading the word without sacrificing on street swagger. A 2009 sequel to his prior year's collaboration with the Cajo Family, Kingdom Business, Pt. 2 picks up right where its predecessor left off, opening on the syrup-slow "Not About They," a neat piece of enlightenment rap. The album bounces around from screw to crunk to flashy club rhymes, as Jones and his crew reveal themselves plenty versatile on a record reverent to both religion and late-'00s hip-hop. ~ Jason Thurston
