In November 2009, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) received a technical assistance request from the Department of Jobs and Family Services at an Ohio county. The request asked for NIOSH assistance in examining rates of 2009 pandemic influenza A (H1N1) (pH1N1) and seasonal influenza (also known as the flu) vaccination among employees at licensed child care centers in the county. The request also asked for assistance in assessing knowledge of and attitudes towards these two vaccines. NIOSH's findings and recommendations are discussed.
