Homero (en griego antiguo Homeros; c. siglo VIII a. C.) es el nombre dado al aedo griego antiguo a quien tradicionalmente se le atribuye la autoría de las principales poesías épicas griegas -la Ilíada y la Odisea-. Desde el período helenístico se ha cuestionado si el autor de ambas obras épicas fue la misma persona; sin embargo, antes no solo no existían estas dudas sino que la Ilíada y la Odisea eran considerados relatos históricos reales.
