Exposed to the goods, the bads, and the uglies of Dillard's world, readers can't help but sympathize with, cheer for, and laugh out loud at a man, who is trying his best to find the most stable path that leads from boy to man. Written like a novel and presented in bite-sized chapters, Lemonade shares the story behind his success. Through candor, vulnerability, and a tinge of wit, Dillard describes how he overcame his own sense of adversity, revealing many of the shocking details that he has held close to the vest. He now exposes past wounds with the hopes of encouraging others to succeed despite their own feelings of injury and loss. Simply, it is a tale of triumph and unmasks what happens when one learns how to win with the hand of life that is dealt. In a nutshell, Dillard stands in life's kitchen, gathers his ingredients, and shows us what to make when all there seems to be is a basket full of lemons.

I finished "Lemonade" last night and I have to say it was a Great Book! The book spoke to me on so many levels having dealt with my Father, his addiction and absence from my life. The child hood references were hysterically funny because anyone with sisters and brothers can relate to the constant love hate relationship that ensues. Personally, I think Dillard's courage is amazing and the idea that he's put his personal life out there on display in such an open fashion to grow and move forward is simply "Awesome". I can think of a few venues where this should be required reading, I think it's that good.

Bernard is the youngest of three. His parents once worked at IBM that afforded them to live in a decent neighborhood in Durham, NC. A few bad choices brought about some drastic changes. How will these changes affect the children? When I first received the book, the title and cover made me a little suspicious. Once I got a few chapters under my belt, the title became catchy and the cover obvious. Bernard L. Dillard shares his experiences, good and bad. He does an excellent job of illustrating how to move forward and not become a victim to your circumstances. I recommend "Lemonade" because it shows how determination, forgiveness, prayer and faith can carry you a long way. Bernard L. Dillard took the lemons he was given and made lemonade. Reviewed by: Jas

I really enjoyed reading this book and could not put it down. It spoke to me on so many different levels. I applause Dillard for the courage it took to write this book. It will surely have an impact on the lives of others that read Lemonade that are faced with similiar struggles.
