Overview

Lennon's Rain by Chris Myers

Sometimes in love, you choose wrong...

Eight years ago, Lennon lost his heart to Rain, and suddenly she's back, all grown up and sexy as hell. At a sorority party, he convinces himself that outbidding every other guy for a body shot from Rain is for charity. But he knows better. He doesn't want any guy, except him, tarnishing the memory of the little girl he proposed to in fifth grade.

Jinx loves Lennon and is past ready for him to make his move. With his sexual prowess, she worries why he hasn't made any advances. She fears she is losing him, and the only way to keep him is to overcome her past and give him what he desires.

Rain knows Lennon is trouble. If she couldn't say no to the gangly boy asking her to skateboard off some roof, how will she refuse Lennon's seductive powers now that he is a man? Rain has many reasons to resist his charm. He has a girlfriend, he's moving to LA with her, and Rain has no intention to march in the long parade of Lennon Tyler conquests.

Now, Lennon must choose. Someone has to lose, and that person could be him.

~ WARNING: Possible Spoilers Ahead ~ Everything I loved about Lennon's Jinx was ripped away from me in this book, Lennon's Rain. What happened to the characters? All of the character development, the time spent getting to know them, and the progress in the storyline *poof* gone. Just like that. I feel like my time has been wasted. I felt as though I was reading about complete strangers - strangers I hated. Sadly, I had to force myself to finish the book.  I'd like to say upfront that my intense dislike of this book has nothing to do with the writing. Myers is a talented and awesome author. This is the fourth book I've read by her, and I'll keep reading her books. Lennon's Rain just didn't work for me, and much of the reason is due to my personal thoughts and beliefs.  "With her past history, she needs to make the first move. With the way she dresses, it's driving me insane. She could at least throw me a bone to gnaw on, but she hasn't. I haven't even gotten to second base, which until now, I'd stopped counting in middle school." ~Lennon talking about Jinx Awww, I'm SO sorry this girl was raped by someone whom her mother trusted to take care of her. Someone her mother believed in over her own daughter. I'm SO sorry her fear and trust issues interferes with your sexual needs, because it's all about you, right? Apparently you think because she won't put out that gives you the right to take a body shot between the double D's of some chick you "proposed" to back in fifth grade while you still have a girlfriend.  Of course Jinx is gonna have issues with sex - she's never experienced it in a healthy way. Instead, she's only felt disgust and fear because she was RAPED!!! The thing is, Lennon knew all of this when he began dating her, and instead of working through this with her, he decides to throw it all away for a girl named Rain. Who has Playboy sized "perfect breasts." Woo hoo, good for her.  Rain and her "Devil Girl"? I wanted them both to disappear. For good. I never connected to Rain and could care less about her story. I'm supposed to believe that because Lennon "proposed" to her when they were in fifth grade, she's supposed to be and has always been the love of his life? No. Just...no. She was mentioned in passing in the last book! He would've been pining away for her instead of starting up a relationship with Jinx.  And why does Currie start hating Jinx all of a sudden? That made no sense to me. She was concerned for her and helped her along with Lennon the night Jinx's stepfather attacked her. Okay, they don't have to always get along, but Currie was like ditch this girl. Jinx stayed by Lennon's side the entire time Currie was in the hospital. Doesn't Currie know that?  Denage wasn't herself either. She reneged on her agreement with Lennon concerning Currie's safety. I want it to be as though this book never happened. The characters were completely rewritten, and I don't understand why. I felt terrible for Jinx - I was all for Jinx and Lennon to be together, but after everything he has done, I'm as anti-Lennon as I can be. I can't stand the way cheating was handled in this book. My blood was boiling. I've never wanted to throw my Kindle across the room, but I did this time.  I'm going into book three as though this one never happened. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Wow...It just gets better and better!! This book is definitely much hotter than the first.  Lennon and Jinx is officially a couple. But what happens when a long lost love re-enters your life after 8 years. Jinx is still struggling with her attack and can’t bring herself to sleep with Lennon. All the while, Lennon has been nothing but patient with her but his sexual frustration isn’t helping. Lennon sees Rain and instantly grows possessive over her. He was in love with her, she was his best friend. But he harbors the feelings of being abandoned by her after she left without saying as much as a goodbye after he declared his love for her and proposed in front of everyone when he was just 10 years old. But their older now and his feelings and attraction for her are so much more. Rain tried to stay in the background, avoiding Lennon at all cost. Until that one night at a college party. The attraction is still their but she struggles with her feelings, especially considering his reputation and the fact that he has a girlfriend. This book just got ten times better. The attraction and chemistry between Lennon and Rain are off the charts. She wants to fight it and hide behind her walls and he wants to dive in head first. However, he needs to figure out what is happening between him and Jinx.  I liked this book as it shows them growing and their characters take shape and develop. Lennon still the caring responsible brother but now he wants more. He wants love, he wants his own family and now he has to deal with doing what is best for his sister. The bands are going on tour how will Lennon and Rain manage with their feelings and will Jinx be a constant obstacle? This book follows the love triangle and some very steamy and passionate scenes. Great addition to the series and I couldn’t wait to jump right into the next book.

Book two of the Lennon’s Girls series can be read as a standalone but I would highly recommend you read the first book in this series Lennon’s Jinx. In the first book Lennon’s Jinx the author provides us with such vivid character development it only will add to your reading experience in the second book Lennon’s Rain. Our story begins where it left off in book one. Lennon has made some decisions for himself and his sister and life as he knew it is about to change. Change happens a bit quicker than Lennon expects and this change was not in his plan. All it takes is a brief glance, a bid for charity, a few drinks and all of the memoires Lennon has stored away in his heart and mind come crashing into him knocking him off his feet. Enter Rain the girl who got away. Lennon was the one part of Rain’s life that she kept close to her heart. All of the memories and feelings she once had taunt her as she tries to stay away from Lennon knowing that being with him could never work. Then there is Lennon’s Jinx. She is in love with Lennon and she is his girl. She worries that by not being with him in a sexual way may break their relationship. She worries the reasons behind her taking that may rip them apart. As with Lennon’s Jinx the author once again does a wonderful job of bringing us one book with many stories. This is the story of Lennon, Jinx and Rain. This is the story of Lennon and the ever changing family he deals with. This is the story of Lennon facing his past and making amends with his future. This is also a beautiful story of realizing what in life makes you happy. It is a story that shows us to what extent you might go to achieve that happiness. This story that shows us that love comes in many forms. Once again the author’s style of writing intrigues the reader and adds plenty of twists and turns within the story. You will find yourself engulfed in the characters, the storyline and the emotions. As with book one you will want the story to continue and it does with Lennon’s Girls Book 3 due out in 2014.

Those looking for a story to pull at their heartstrings and one that will remind you of your youth will find all that and more in Lennon's Rain by Chris Myers. The events from this book's prequel have us picking up two months later with Lennon finding success with his band but still confused in his love life. He cares for Jinx but after seeing the "one who got away" at a party he's left conflicted. He's matured since we last saw him though so he won't make rash decisions with his love life, especially as he doesn't want to hurt those he cares about. He realizes that it's not all about him and I was impressed by this wiser boy he's become, yet still charming badish boy he continues to be. I loved him in the last book and continue to love him here, especially seeing him continue caring for his younger sister. Their interactions endeared him to me and made my heart go all aflutter. The others in this love triangle are distinctively different in their personalities, though they've all had emotionally draining pasts. Jinx is quiet and a bit timid and still trying to overcome the issues in her past. She has strong inner fortitude which I admired but her battles with Lennon's little sister suggest a hiccup in the future of Jinx and Lennon's relationship. Rain is the opposite kind of girl in that she's outspoken and larger than life. She gives off a bad girl vibe which I found appealing. I also enjoyed her internal conversations which provided a bit of humor. She got along beautifully with Lennon's little sister which further complicated the outcome of this love triangle that kept me guessing with its twists and turns. This was a compelling read with likable characters that often did the unexpected. It was intensely emotional with its flawed characters and heavy issues and I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. Ms. Myers wrote a fast-paced story with some steamy moments that kept me guessing and tore at my heart numerous times. I look forward to where the story goes from here and recommend this to fans of the NA genre looking for an exciting new author.

Two girls and one bad boy. Though there’s no cheating, Lennon comes close. Torn between his first crush and Jinx, Lennon struggles with the wild child he skateboarded with and the more serious and level-headed Jinx. As soon as Rain is introduced though, it's obvious who is the better choice. Unlike Jinx, Rain adores Currie and gets along with her. There’s also a sexual chemistry between Lennon and Rain that smokes the pages. Fun and Fast! Bad boy Lennon

Back in February I read Lennon's Jinx.  Great, great story! So I was really excited to read the second book in the series, Lennon's Rain.   I will admit I adored Jinx, so it took me at least a third of the book to like Rain.  I won't spoiler it for you, but something in me just didn't want to like her as much.  I felt like Chris Meyers took a definite turn in how she wrote Jinx in this book from the last one. But some where around  one third and one half of the way through the book, I finally got on board with liking Rain, so at that point, the book starting working a little better for me.  I fell in love with Lennon in the last book.  I mean really, who wouldn't love a guy who has done such amazing things for his sister? He has pretty much raised her in the absence of his parents.  Sure he is pretty messed up, but come on, he hasn't had the best roll models, and he has really tried to be there for his sister.   Overall I've really liked both of theses books, and when you get to the end, you get a great surprise, there is one more coming out, Lennon's Hope! I won't spoil this one either, but I can't wait to meet Hope! I really think that Lennon has finally gotten his act together and is moving in a positive direction. He seems happy and thing safe going good  Of course in fiction world, that is usually the perfect time for something bad to happen, so we shall see. Chris Meyers has written two great stories, and I've loved seeing where she has taken these slightly off center characters.
