About the Author

JERRY KOLINS was born and raised in New York City. He graduated from Jamaica High School and went on to get his bachelor of science in zoology from the University of Michigan and his MD from Wayne State University School of Medicine. His postgraduate work at the Massachusetts General Hospital and the National Institutes of Health provided him the medical foundation for a career in laboratory medicine. Dr. Kolins is currently the medical director of laboratories at Palomar Health in North San Diego County. He lives with his wife, Dale, in La Jolla, California.
