Life on a Mountain

Bella Anderson struggles to wrap her head around the recent destruction to her property by teenagers running drugs across her eight acres in the Smoky Mountains. All she wants is to establish a routine in the hopes of writing her ever elusive novel. She finds her plans change quickly-just like the switchbacks on the road to her serene cabin 2000 feet above the high hills valley community that is the lifeline for folks in these hills. Widowed at a young age, she is surprised by the interest two local men show in her. Will Bella be prepared for the tenuous nature of her connection to the roots of her ancestors through Joe Johnson, the owner of the Valley Store? He is her only link to her family in this isolated community where people take care of each other-except when they don't.

About the Author

Jacqueline Evans Jacobs, Ph.D., celebrates the opportunities offered in her life to serve as a teacher and educational leader on five continents. As a little girl, born of parents whose roots in the Smoky Mountains date to 1720, she dreamed of the journeys traveled in the books she read. She couldn't have imagined the places she would live, nor the amazing people she would meet. She gave each of her doctoral students at the University of South Carolina the book "Oh, the Places You'll Go" by Dr. Seuss in anticipation of their leadership to encourage another little girl to dream of the places she can go in life. Life on a Mountain is the second book in her series, Love is a Cabin.
