Limerence

Adam Britt thought he had it all figured out-college life, hockey, and the delicate balance of navigating his identity as a bisexual Black man. But behind his easy smile and quick wit lies a yearning for something more: connection, belonging, and the kind of love he's only dared to imagine.

After a chance encounter in the library with a stranger whose blue-gray eyes and magnetic presence leave him breathless, Adam finds himself caught between reality and fantasy. The stranger disappears as quickly as he arrived, leaving Adam to wrestle with the ache of possibility and the growing warmth of an unexpected friendship with Isiah, the charming and confident leader of his university's LGBTQIA+ society.

Torn between the comfort of routine and the pull of something new, Adam must confront his deepest fears and desires. As he navigates friendships, love, and the complexities of self-discovery, he learns that true connection often requires taking risks-even if it means opening himself up to the unpredictable and the unknown.

A story of identity, longing, and the messy beauty of love, Limerence is a heartfelt and witty exploration of what it means to find your place in the world-and the people who make it feel like home.

About the Author

Lauren Weaver is a bisexual Houston native who finds the underrepresentation of bisexual stores dreadful. With Limerence, she wanted to highlight the real lives and loves of not only bisexual and gay men, but also the internal struggles of a black queer man.

Known for compelling storytelling and an innovative approach to stagecraft, her career began with a love of the written word.

While she spends her days in the corporate world, her free time is spent with loved ones, singing loudly to musicals or yelling at the computer when she has writer's block.

If asked, 'Why do you write?' the answer is simple:

"Because when I do, I'm the happiest I've ever been. When I write, I'm free."
