Throughout the story, different animals and plants celebrate in their own unique ways the coming of the new season; readers are encouraged to press the chick's "squishy tummy" to join in the celebration. Pastel illustrations with endearing animals along with a darling chick will make this a fun book to share with a toddler who will no doubt enjoy pressing on the squishy chick without ever "hurting" it. VERDICT Sweetly complicit animals help welcome spring in a novel interaction that mirrors how humans play with babies.
