Overview

The first day of kindergarten is finally here, and Henry can't wait to paint pictures, sing songs, and practice counting. When he gets to school, though, he's not so sure he's ready for kindergarten. But before long Henry discovers that the only thing he's not ready for is how much fun he's going to have at school! This gently humorous, encouraging story will give children about to enter kindergarten an extra boost of confidence.

"Perfect for parents to share with their children, and the endearing Henry will offer reassurance to even the most hesitant prekindergartners."

As a former Kindergarten teacher, this book was a first day of school favorite of mine. It offers children an opportunity to get a glimpse of what Kindergarten will be like and I have found that it does a wonderful job of calming those normal first-day jitters that some kids experience. I love how it makes an often intimidating thing such as starting school and separating from parents and family a positive and fun thing. I highly recommend this book to teachers to use during the first week of school. Once you're done reading it aloud to the class, you could put it in your library so the kids can read it later on during the school year. I also recommend this book to parents who have nervous soon-to-be Kindergartners or even just kids who may be curious as to what school will be like.

My son did not want to go to preschool at all. I was nervous about Kindergarten so I bought this book and Little Bear Won't Go to School. This book was perfect! My son wanted to eat pancakes and do everthing the character did the first day. He was so busy being like Henry that he forgot about being worried about school. Buy all of these kinds of books you can!

Even though Henry is looking forward to going to kindergarten, he is not sure about staying once he first gets there.

This book should be read to students just starting school. The book address what would be fun to do in school in school, like art. but at the same time says it might be scary. It tells little ones that school can be fun and a new place to make friends

I purchased this for my grandson who had not experienced any type of school before entering Kindergarten. It was great, he was great, the first day was fantastic! His mother had a few problems, but he did just fine! The storyline was just enough, to reassure him that it would be ok and fun.
