I haven't read Jo Beverley in quite a while and have forgotten how much I enjoy her work. This book was set shortly after William of Normandy invades England in 1066. There are several misunderstandings made by both the hero and heroine that take awhile to get ironed out but I enjoyed this book overall. It seemed very realistic for the time and well-researched. (Grade: B)

Old fashioned historical, feels like it was written long before 2002. Set during the Norman conquest of England, Aimery has torn loyalties between his king and his uncle. His new wife fears that he could be a traitor and that is the cause of their confusion... Weird sub plots and a bit of sex, it doesn't feel like a usual Jo Beverley but it was readabler. So B- not a keeper but not a waste of time either

Jo Beverly did a very good job with this book by giving us the historical details that leads to the mistrust between the Hero and Heroine. The plot is very intrigueing and fill with suspense. I however would have like this book better if the heroine was more trustful towards the hero. There are certain parts when the Hero has his heart out for her and she simply push him away with her mistrust of him. If it is really love she should trust him and support him and only him regardless of what he is doing. I recommend this book to those readers who loves passion mix with history
