Nondescript “good girl” Miss Camellia Grenville only ever opens her mouth when forced to sing at her family’s musicales. That is, until the night she infiltrates the ton’s most scandalous masquerade ball on behalf of her sister, and finds herself in the arms—and the bed—of the one man she’d sworn to hate.

Irresistibly arrogant and unapologetically sensuous, infamous rake Lord Wainwright always gets his way. When he accepts a wager to turn his rakish image respectable in just forty days, he never anticipates falling for an anonymous masked lover...or that discovering her identity would destroy them both.

Erica Ridley wrote a delicious story of two very different souls. Michael was an Earl whose reputation had been shredded for years. He was notorious for swooning women, daring escapades, and disrepute. Camellia was a lady who was the eoitome of manners and banal repute. She was the model of high stodgy standards because she was protecting the future for her sisters. Earl Wainright made a wager with his friends that for fourty days he would not be in the scandal sheets depicted in any scandalous cartoons. Camellia Grenville was dismayed that her parents had accepted the courtship of an elderly man, rwice her age, because her bland manners did not draw suitors to her. How do you reclaim your reputation after years of improper actions? How can a wallflower change without causing scandalous repercussions that would hurt her sisters ability to marry well? That is the story.... Michael and Camellia were on polar ends of class. He was in the higher accepted ranks, while she was only asked by the minor ranks to events in the Season. I enjoyed Ms. Ridley's story. It was not a cliffhanger. I recommend it to an adult audience.

Great characters, much laughter and good storyline. What more could you ask for.

Steamy romance about the aristocracy and the importance of reputation. Camellia's continued single-hood is threatening her younger sisters' prospects, so she agrees to an arranged marriage but is determined to make the most of her remaining month of freedom. Michael is tired of being considered the most scandalous rake in London, so he looks for opportunities where he can just be himself, without the pressure of expectations. Their completely different circles intersect at a masquerade, and each is instantly smitten by the other's honest, inner self even though the truth of their identities would prevent any form of permanent attachment. I loved the well-developed characters and intricately-detailed conflict. Michael and Camellia are so great together, at their core, and reading how they navigated all the obstacles in their path made for a unique, exhilarating reading experience. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

I loved the characters and the storyline. I love Camellia and her strong personality. Though she does not show it, she is a strong person inside though she doesn’t understand the full extend of her will of character and how it can shine through. Michael can she her beautiful personality shining through though he doesn’t realize it until the very end. It is a great story and I love how happy they are in the end! I feel like I wanted to get to know Michael a little more into his feelings and maybe his background. This story gives you enough but I would have wanted a bit more.

Really fantastic. I so enjoyed this book with the wonderful characters. Great author and so well written. Loved it.

I love the first chapter that enlightens the reader to Lord Wainwright 's character. I found it highly amusing, his discomfort at all the caricatures of him and his ummm... activities. It was the perfect beginning to this distinct book which also introduces his friends, Lord Hawkridge and Gideon and sets up the premise to this story where Michael wagers to change his image in 40 days. Camellia has my complete compassion regarding her feelings towards her fathers decision on her future life and husband. How she reacts to the news and what she does next makes this a very eventful story. For secondary characters her sister Dahlia is very forward for her time and she adds the needed spark to this story by forcing Camellia out to the masquerade ball because their sister Bryony can't go. Don't you just love those sisters who push you into trouble? For your own good or so they say. Now Bryony really is the wild one in my opinion and I can't wait to see more books to this series with both of these sisters. I have decided I want to go to a mask ball just like the one Camellia did because the author did such a great job of keeping it exciting and intriguing for the reader. How she unfolds the story between Camellia and Michael Rutland, Earl of Wainwright is priceless. I recommend this book to readers who are looking for an out of the ordinary read and give it 3.5 stars. Received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review.

When all you do is walk into a room to have all eyes on you is more of a curse than a blessing for Lord Wainwright. His etherial visage and wealthy Earldom have ladies simpering whenever he is near. For a decade, he’d taken lovers and played the role of a rake. Now he sees his life in a very different light. He wants to be respected and have his opinions matter for the sake of the House of Lords. As is, he is idle fodder for the scandal sheets. A voice of an angel and the heart to match, Miss Camellia Grenville is stuck in the role of wallflower older sister. Her two younger sisters are vibrant and vocal, causing Camellia to be the sensible one. So sensible, her parents agree to marry her off to a man twice her age. With only one month until the marriage contracts are to be signed, Camellia decides to be daring and take her sister’s invitation to a masquerade. Behind a black mask, Wainwright saves the beautiful woman in blue, Camellia. This meeting sparks a relationship neither expected, but needed desperately. The two have four chances to meet anonymously at the weekly masquerades before the contracts will be signed. Camellia finds an instant connection and agrees to meetings with the stranger. Ridley gives us another romantic adventure with this second novel in the Rogues to Riches series. While in the first novel, riches amounted to money and love, here it means fulfilled dreams and romance. I adored Camellia’s brimming fire that broke through with the threat of a loveless marriage hanging over her head. Ridley gives us another strong willed heroine who discovers who she really is when it is almost too late to discover it. Wainwright was more complex than I ascertained in the beginning. He seemed like another man who loved women, money, and drinking. Then Ridley slowly peeled away the layers to find a man who wants to be himself, yet can only do so while wearing a physical mask. Another 5 Star read from Erica Ridley! Can’t wait to read the story of Camellia’s younger sister, Dahlia, and the dashing Bow Street runner, Simon Spaulding, in Lord of Night. Also in this series: Lord of Chance (Rogues to Riches, #1) I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Miss Camellia Grenville is always the good daughter, polite, proper and dutiful. However, when her mother informs her of the marriage agreement between her father and a respectable man but twenty years her senior, everything changes in her life. Michael, the Earl of Wainwright, better known as the “Lord of Pleasure”, is tired of being in everybody’s mouth but not for the better. He wants everybody to know the real him, not the man they think he is. Well-written, well-developed, funny, tender, lovely story to enjoy from the very first word till the very last. It is always a pleasure to read Erica Ridley’s books. The characters were enjoyable, the situations laughable. Sometimes I took pity on poor Michael. Every time he encounters with the Grenville sisters, something goes wrong for him. I liked the encounter between Miss Camellia and Anthony Fairfax when verifying the first-time invitation recipients to the masquerade ball. I love how the author starts to prepare the grounds for the next novel within the end of the current one. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.

Lord Wainwright wagers to become respectable however Miss Camellia falls into his pathway and plans. The second book in this series brings the reader back to the regency ton with intrigue and roles to play while these two find their answers and future. Enjoy this author's characters and settings . Looking forward to the third book. Ebook from netgalley and publishers with thanks. Opinions are entirely my own.

Loved this story!! I particularly loved that they fell for each other without ever knowing who the other was and what they looked like. There is something to be said for that intellectual connection and that is not often part of the storyline in historical romances. Another hit out of the park for Ridley! I eagerly await the next book in the series!

Book 2 of the Rogues to Riches Series was even better then the first! I absolutely loved this book. I really enjoyed the masquerade idea and that two misunderstood people were able to come together as equals. Erica did such a good job building up there relationship via risque meetings. As much of a rogue Lord Wainwright was I did feel for him-I wanted him to find happiness. I like Camilla but found that often times she stood in the way of her own happiness-thank goodness for her sisters!! Her character is so relate-able though because so often women have to broadcast a certain persona to society and hide her true personality. I am intrigued to see her sisters story. I love that this series so far has a the underlying theme of happiness without judgement (who cares what the ton thinks

3.5* I've received an eARC in exchange for an honest review. Lord of Pleasure was much better than Lord of Chance. From the start, I felt a much bigger empathy with the characters, both Camellia and Michael. Camellia is a friendly and protective sister and she feels like she has to compensate her family for her sisters’ behaviour – making her the “good girl”. Michael on the other hand, is seen as a rake/rogue/playboy, someone that walks into a room and makes all the ladies swoon – which he doesn’t particularly appreciates. Why? Because how people see him makes them change and twist his words, and he hates that. Each of them felt stuck to a roll and it’s interesting to see how real masks allow for emotional and fake personality masks to fall and disappear. I liked the evolution of their relationship but, to be honest, I don’t know if it would last long, because they only know each other like the person behind the masks and, in truth, they are a bit of both – the ones behind the mask and that they show each other, and the ones they show the world. Still, it was a fun and fast paced read that I quite enjoyed. I was always eager to know more about the characters. In truth, I think the “problem” didn’t really exist and something better could have been used to twist the story a bit but, for the kind of plot, this simple ruse and scheme worked fine. It was a book that was hard to put down and gave me quite a lot pleasure to read, but, as I started to write this review, I concentrated a bit more on the problems that I was seeing, and that’s why the rating isn’t as high as I thought it would be (4*).

Erica writes Regency romance novels that make me yearn to travel back in time. Lord of Pleasure is the second in the Rogues to Riches series, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I love reading about a Lady bringing the Rake to heel. I also liked reading that the Lady's family was a little unconventional, the sisters didn't care about following the rules so much. I was given an advance copy to give my honest opinion of the book. You won't be disappointed, it's a wonderful read!

Entertaining and fun historical read. Camellia has always been the good girl in her family until she learns the plans her parents have for her, so she decides to enjoy life a bit and goes to a scandalous masquerade ball where she meet the Lord of Pleasure. Will Michael and Camellia find their way back to each other after an incredible night? The story is fast paced with plenty of drama and a great cast of characters. I loved it!

Another emotionally charged read that deals with the battles we face between behaving according to what we think society expects of us and the freedom of behaving as our true selves. Erica is a gifted author who always takes you on a delightful journey with her stories..Michael and Cam did not disappoint. Can't wait for the next in line.

'Lord of Pleasure' by Erica Ridley is book Two in the "Rogues to Riches" series. This is the story of Michael, Lord Wainwrigh and Camellia Grenville. Camellia is very quiet spinster who as reported by her mother has never 'given them parents a minutes trouble'. Now Camellia finds out that her parents has settle a older husband for her to marry. That gentlemen asked for her hand in marriage and didn't even stay around to ask her...he will be back in a month to sign the marriage contract. Camellia is upset but knows that she will be a good daughter and will more than likely go along with this. The same day her sister is to go to a masquerade party but can't make it. So Camellia ends up going in her place. Which leads her to meet Michael who is in disguised as she is, so they don't recognize each other. But they are attracted to one another and agree to meet again at the next party. Michael has a handsome face and his reputation is that of a rake and charmer. But Michael is getting tired of acting and being taken that way. So he has made a bet that he can be respectable in 40 days. This was another great story by Ms. Ridley. Camellia, a dutiful first daughter of a respectable family, must wed a gentleman old enough to be her father. "She never rocked the boat," but this was beyond tolerable! Against her better judgement, she agrees to attend a disreputable masquerade party, in place of her sister. There she meets the gentleman of her dreams, both in costume. Her mind tells her to enjoy his company while she can; her heart tells her something else entirely... A "pleasure," reading this captivating historical romance! Enjoyed the interactions between Camellia & Michael, her sisters and his friends. Funny, dramatic and full of twists! Looking forward to the next book in the series. Provided an ARC for an honest review.

LORD OF PLEASURE by Erica Ridley is another pleasurable Historical Romance from this author. #2 in her exciting “Rogues to Riches” series, but can be read as a stand alone. See, “Lord of Chance”. Miss Camellia Grenville, the “good girl”, and Michael, Lord Wainwright, the infamous and rakish “bad boy”, have chemistry that simply sparks off the pages of this irresistible story. A whirlwind relationship to be sure. The characters are well-rounded, well-developed, and very engaging. The plot flows smoothly and continuously, with a little bit of naughtiness, a scandalous masquerade party and of course, a rake who needs redeeming. I was pulled into “Lord of Pleasure” from the first page and continued throughout this amazing story. Cinderella has nothing on Camellia. I absolutely loved Camellia and Michael. While, I can’t say their story is one of purity, I can say it was engaging and beautifully written. The reader will find the “Lord of Pleasure”, to be entertaining, engaging, interesting and scandalously intriguing. You gotta love an amazing and fantastic Historical Romance. I can’t say enough about Ms. Ridley, her writing is masterfully and brilliantly written, to hold readers entrapped and enticed in the pages of a good romance. A must read!! Another well done story by the amazing Erica Ridley! I can’t wait to read the next “Rogues to Riches” story, “Lord of Night”, coming June 23, 2017. Rating: 5 Heat rating: Mild Reviewed by: AprilR

Erica Ridley has another winner in “Lord of Pleasure” The second book in her Rogues to Riches series. She is a seasoned pro when it comes to writing regency romances. Her stories captivate her readers and this story was an awesome read. The plot was well written and fast paced. Her characters were well developed and endearing. The hero, Lord Wainwright dubbed the Lord of Pleasure by the scandal sheets is a charming, rich, infamous rake. The heroine Camellia Grenville always plays it safe following the dictates of her family and is considered a mouse. In public she despises him and his scandalous ways. In private at a masked ball where they are anonymous they come to care for each other. How these two characters overcome the perceptions of others and how they perceive each other both privately and in public makes for a truly interesting and well written story. I was totally engrossed in Wainwright and Cam’s story as Erica’s plot had me hooked from the first chapter and kept my attention through the epilogue. There were also a number of surprises and twists that served to enhanced her storyline. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to enjoy reading a really good regency romance. You will not be disappointed. I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my review. It was a pleasure to give my honest opinion about the book.

STORY-LINE LORD OF PLEASURE BY ERICA RIDLEY: In Lord Of Pleasure, the reader finds a lively romp through Regency England. Mousy good girl Camellia Grenville barely opens her mouth and sits in the corners; she guards her reputation to make sure her two sisters, Dahlia and Bryony, find suitable matches. Considered on the shelf, a wallflower, an old maid, Camellia's the dutiful daughter. Her one glory is music where she excels; privately Camellia has dreams. Unwilling to go meekly along with her parents decision for her life, Camellia finds herself at a notorious masked ball dressed to kill. Ready for some fun in her life, she gets more than she expected. Lord Wainwright, reputedly a hell-rake, hedonist, debaucher of women, suddenly finds himself betting he can change his reputation. He has 40 days to succeed and stay out of the papers. However, fate places a delectable masked young woman in his path. Staying respectable will be very hard to do. Will fate allow Wainwright and Camellia to forge a relationship that could destroy all she holds dear. Is a love match possible between the debaucher and the good girl? My reviews of romance novel, Lord of Pleasure, follows. CHARACTERS, PLOTTING, DEVELOPMENT: Lord of Pleasure is fine romp in the ballrooms and parlors of Regency England. Combining two very different people together was an artistic stroke by Ridley. Or were they really, deep inside, so very different? I loved how well the sisters related and supported each other. Ridley developed strikingly different personalities for each of them, yet they complimented each other. I look forward to seeing what Ridley crafts for them in future books. Her development of Wainwright's morals and personality, as she allowed him to mature, was wonderful to see. Never as bad as everyone thought, he still had a long way to go to be respectable. She slowly unfolded the layers of Wainwright's personality and ambitions. She revealed the true person behind the reputation. In turn, with growing confidence, Camellia bloomed from the mousey spinster. Also the well-developed secondary characters in Lord of Pleasure added depth to the story-line. As a result, I laughed and giggled as the characters snipped at each other. Some of things Camellia and her sisters said were hilarious. Although, Lord of Pleasure, includes an intense intimate love scene, I did not find it offensive or overly descriptive. Finally, in concluding my reviews of romance novel, The Lord Of Pleasure, I found a well-developed story-line with well-developed characters. Also the pacing of the story was smooth and steady and the plotting seamless. I would not hesitate to buy this book for a friend. LORD OF PLEASURE RECOMMENDATION: STARS 4 Additionally, I found Lord of Pleasure suitable for young adults and adults. Perfect for anyone that loves a solid well-written Regency romance. Good girl meets bad boy and sparks fly! By night, as Lord and Lady X they banter and flirt and come to like, respect and appreciate each other. And, a friendship forms. By day, as Camellia and Michael, they go toe to toe and take potshots at each other. And, a rivalry forms. I really enjoyed being the proverbial fly on the wall and having a laugh at their expense, as I am aware of what they are not... their true identities. This book was entertaining, very smartly written and a nice continuation of the Rogues to Riches series. Although it could be read as a stand alone, I think I enjoyed it that much more for having read the first book in the series, Lord of Chance. I am anxiously awaiting the next story in this series. *I received a complimentary ARC of this book from NetGalley & Season Publishing/WebMotion in order to read and provide a voluntary, unbiased and honest review, should I choose to do so.

Eat your heart out Cinderella, you've just met your match. Camellia is a late bloomer, but when she breaks free her wallflower status quickly falls by the wayside. A masquerade ball, a sexy rake, a scandalous wager and liaison take her from the shadows to the spotlight. Her heart and reputation will never be the same. Lord of Pleasure dances it way into a classic as it scandalizes and romances as it succeeds in casting an enchanting spell.

Lord of Pleasure by Erica Ridley Rogues to Riches #2 Miss Camellia Grenville has lived a circumspect life. She has been the “good” eldest sister and never caused a stir or stepped out of bounds. When her mother calls her in to announce she has been betrothed she is underwhelmed by the man who has been chosen for her and overwhelmed by the thought of marriage to said man. With only a little while to enjoy her freedom she attends a scandalous masquerade party that may change her life forever…if that is…Lord X can figure out which Lady X she is before it is too late. With musicales, social engagements and a whole lot going on you would think true love would thrive BUT when one does not know WHO is behind the mask it makes things much less straightforward, especially when the two falling in love don’t much care for one another when not wearing their masks. This is a delightful story that explores the idea of living up to society’s and parental expectations versus figuring out what one wants for self and is willing to do to achieve personal goals. I enjoyed the journey made by Lord Wainright and Camellia and look forward to reading book three in this series when it is released. Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review. 4 Stars

Good storyline Rogues to Riches is proving to be a very entertaining and engaging read. Lord Wainwright is known as the Lord of Pleasure, a reputation that he has built over the years. He only has to enter a room for the ladies to start swooning, either for a chance at the title or to experience his legendary prowess! It's almost as though he is expected to behave badly and give the media a scandal for the ton to gossip about. When two of his friends puts a wager for him to behave and stay out of the newspapers for forty days, he can hardly refuse. These are going to be boring long days but there is always the masquerade where he can stay anonymous. Camellia is the total opposite. She is sensible and very conscientious of doing the right thing to give her two younger sisters a chance at having a good match. She is the "mouse" of the family and always does what is expected from a lady. She is an excellent singer and her family holds regular musicales which are very much in demand. Deep down, that's ideally what she would like to do but doesn't dare as this would sully her reputation. Her sisters are more daring than she could ever be. When Lord Wainwright upsets one of her sisters, Camellia is not very happy and comes to her defense in a surprising manner. She has always given him the brush off in their previous encounters. An invitation to the masquerade falls into Camellia's lap and she is coaxed into attending. Totally out of character! When she arrives at the masquerade, a blackguard starts to harass her and this gentleman comes to her rescue. They hit it off instantly. They can both be themselves without any expectations. They agree to meet again at the next masquerade and for two people who don't know each other, they start to form a comfortable relationship which ends up to be romantic. They are getting along really well at their last meeting when something goes drastically wrong. He is now left not knowing who the mysterious lady is and for once in his life, he cares about what she thinks of him. Finding out who she is isn't going to be easy. Can he find a way to convince her of his feelings for her or will his reputation get in the way? This is a very well written story. It's lighthearted and charming. The characters from previous stories are included and brings a sense of familiarity. I like the continuity aspect and the story held me captive. I would have liked to have seen "mother's" reaction to the last development but that's not to say that it interferes with the storyline. Although, it would have been interesting. All in all it's a beautifully portrayed storyline. I received a complimentary eARC from the author and the views expressed are my personal opinion.
