LUCY & JAMES: Deep Blue Rescue:
Deep Blue Rescue is book two of the LUCY & JAMES Adventure Series dealing with the plight of vanishing species around the globe.

Lucy and James, now fourteen, are about to start their second year at The World Academy, this time in North Iceland. They're here to study the effects of melting Arctic ice, but when a yearling whale mysteriously disappears from Skjafandi bay, everything changes. Why would someone want to kidnap a whale, and where could they possibly hide it? Lucy, passionate about all animals, but especially endangered ones will do whatever it takes to find and save this one whale. Time is running out, as a whale this young can't survive long without its mother. In the blue glow of a man-made cave, she convinces James to go on yet another rescue mission.

The devotion of the main characters, Lucy and James, is at the center of the story. A cast of fascinating minor characters, both human and robotic, are woven into the plot: Townes, Lucy's best friend and 'go-to tech guy' in New York; Ryan, a charismatic wheelchair-bound student, and James' best friend; Zabrina, a student from Brazil who is non-speaking; Mikhail, a mad scientist working in secret in an underground cavern - accompanied by his faithful companion and robot Rangvold and Asta, the mean headmistress of the Academy - to name just a few.

This high-spirited story takes readers on a modern-day Icelandic adventure; lost in a deadly snowstorm, riding Icelandic horses across snow-covered lava fields, and a harrowing trek through a lava tube to a suspenseful, exhilarating ending. For readers 9-14. appropriate for both MG and YA.
