An excellent beginning for the 7 brides for 7 brothers series. I enjoyed reading about Luke and Lizzie's rekindled romance as well as the other characters in the story. It was interesting to see how Luke and Lizzie adapted to the problems that life threw at them. I thought it was a fun book.

Luke is in for a shock when his father really does know best. Barbara does it again with a bit of everything- romance, drama, and thrill. You feel like you are right there with the characters. Pick up this novel today and live a little with Like and Lizzie.

Excellent read. Knew where the story was heading from the beginning. This is the first in this series and am looking forward to the next. This story had no mystery or suspense. There was a reference to an "old man" in the peak of the action/drama in this story, that was never followed through. A good read and worth the time spent.

Got the chance to read this while on vacation. A lovely thought-provoking, relaxing read. I liked the idea of the cryptic inheritances for the seven brothers and that we don't really know what happened with each one. Yet! The main characters were real and like-able and I enjoyed the side stories about Lizzie's niece and the other goings on at the resort. I can't wait to see what the next book in the series has in store for us.

Luke is book 1 in the 7 Brides for 7 Brothers series. Each brother's story was written by a different author. Barbara Freethy leads off the series with Luke. Loved it. Cannot wait to read about the stories of the other six brothers. The story behind the series is about the seven Brannigan brothers. Each for the most part living their own lives and occasionally hooking up with the other brothers. They lost their mother very young and are raised by an extremely wealthy father who doesn't quite know how to raise his sons without his wife. Luke and his father in particular didn't see eye to eye and had lots of disagreements over the years. Luke is the daredevil in the family, and doesn't want to put down roots. The brothers are reunited upon learning that their father is dead. None of them knew the father was very ill until after he passed away. The father in his infinite wisdom left each of his sons an envelope with a gift that was unique to each son. Luke's gift was the deed to a Lodge by Yosemite where his parents met and fell in love, and where the family spent their last vacation together before their mother passed away. No one even knew their father owned this lodge. Luke goes to check it out thinking he would sell it, only to discover that his father had hired Luke's college sweetheart, Lizzie, to run the Lodge. Lizzie and Luke's breakup ten years ago was very bitter, and each was hurt badly by it. Lizzie is doing a fabulous job running the Lodge, as well as trying to raise her 13 year old niece. Her niece is rebellious after having lost her parents in an auto accident. This book deals not only with a second chance at love for Luke and Lizzie, but also the healing love between an aunt and her niece. This is definitely a romance that doesn't involve suspense or mystery. I received an ARC of this book, in exchange for an honest review. Barbara Freethy has yet to disappoint me. You feel all the emotions that everyone is dealing with. Loved it!!!

This story is about one of seven brothers, Luke. Barbara Freethy kicks off the series with high energy. Luke's father, assures a gift is presented to each son upon his death.. Luke's gift is the title to the family's mountain lodge. Upon arriving at the lodge, Luke's only love from 10 years earlier turns out to be the manager. No woman has ever compared to her since.. This story is the rest of Luke and Lizzie's lives. Barbara writes Romance at its best. You feel the heartache, the pain and the joy of finding love again just like you are in the same room with the characters. .You don't want to miss this story.

A beautiful story of love, loss and second chances. Luke and Lizzie are a great couple separated by life 10 years ago and meeting back up due to Lukes fathers death and the Inn left to him. Luke always thought his father didn't "see" him after his Mom died but it seems he was wrong about that. Lizzie wanted her career too much to follow Luke but now she has given that up for her orphaned niece who needed to get out of LA and away from bad influences. Both of them have reason to second guess themselves and the direction of their lives. I loved the story and look forward to the rest of Lukes brothers finding their own answers.

Another new series 7 BRIDES FOR 7 BROTHERS by Barbara Freethy. Starting it off, the first is "LUKE" who risks life and limb, for that perfect shot, being a film maker. Doesn't miss home, though he does his brothers.Traveling the globe, taking that one perfect shot, and cheating death one more time, Sums up the life of Luke. Did he have a girlfriend, at 20 he did, but none now at 30 . A death, the reading of the will, and why was he left a mountain lodge. Another winner, to enjoy and meet the Brannigan family. The next is Gabe. Given my voluntary review and my honest opinion.

Luke is a story of missed opportunities, wounded relationships and prideful behavior. All of these actions have played a part in the rift that exists between the powerful yet dysfunctional Brannigan family. Barbara Freethy begins this series with a story that is as therapeutic as it is heartbreaking. Colin Brannigan was not perfect and his actions had a profound impact on his Heirs. Facing his own mortality seemed to get him to look at the damage and in death create the legacy he was unable to rectify in life. The chance for his family to find happiness and absolution from the pain that he wrought upon them. Barbara Freethy was the ideal lead in for this spellbinding series. She knows how to appeal to emotions and get a reaction.
