Lupin Leaps In is a brand-new comic collection for middle grade readers! This just in: Three adorable house cats are reporting the most hilarious breaking news! Based on author/illustrator Georgia Dunn’s real-life pets, Elvis, Lupin, and Puck strap on neckties and pick up microphones to provide the most up-to-date relevant news stories (at least according to them).
Picking up where they last left off in Breaking Cat News, are Elvis, Puck, and Lupin reporting on the breaking news that matters to cats. Cynical, no-nonsense Elvis and shy, sweet, sensitive Puck are the reporter kitties in the field, while the adventurous jokester Lupin serves as anchor cat. Together, they're back to break headlines on mysterious man "tails," all things holiday-related, new cat friends, and all the daily happenings in and outside their home.
The super fun "More to Explore" section includes how to draw the BCN news crew, how to draw expressions, how to draw your pet as a reporter, and paper dolls of the crew, along with props and extras!

Oh my! This is absolutely adorable! From the illustrations to the hilarious newscasting the cats Elvis, Puck, and Lupin do will definitely make you laugh! In the beginning, I was hesitant to check this out because basing from the front cover, I thought that it is just a silly children's book. I also found the first several pages to be weird but the funny tales started from the third comic story onwards. The adventures and comical banter of the cats in this graphic novel will absolutely give pure delight even if you are not a cat-person like me. It is a recommended read for middle-grades, older readers, and especially those who have pets on their own because I'm quite sure that they will think of their furry friends while reading this.
The second book of "Breaking Cat News" strips takes up where the first book ("Breaking Cat News") left off--reprinting the original web comics before BCN made the jump to newspapers. In this volume, the characters have been developed and the interactions are wonderful. This volume includes the first Christmas continuity (featuring Elvis lost in the cold outdoors) as well as Lupin's Laundry Room Adventure (which inspires the cover illustration) and more formally introduces us to more furry characters in the expanding BCN universe. As an added bonus, it reprints the first St. Patrick's Day strip, which is one of the funniest single comic strips I ever read with funny jokes in almost every panel. ("Kiss Me, I'm Irish" "Don't Touch Me, I'm Siamese"). Georgia Dunn's artwork is more developed in this volume than in the first, with her signature use of watercolors. This book is a treasure.
Breaking Cat News made a successful leap from multi-panel webcomic to four-panel newspaper comic. That's not easy, but creator/artist/writer Georgia Dunn not only did it, she did it seamlessly. "Lupin Leaps In" is the second book from the BCN universe. It starts where the first book left off, archiving the webcomic. While the current newspaper/GoComics version of BCN should be read, don't neglect getting these books and treating yourself to the expanded delight of the web version. It's got all the ingredients of good cat art, comedy, feels, cuteness, adventure, wisdom, and ham. As a long-time reader of many comics in all forms, I can tell you that I think Breaking Cat News is up there with Calvin and Hobbes, Bloom County, Order of the Stick, Doonesbury, etc. Don't be surprised if BCN is around for a long time and you hear about how great it is from more people than me. Get this book now! P.S. Great for kids too!
