Lust (Vegas Nights, #2) by Emma Hart

New York Times bestselling author, Emma Hart, brings together two polar-opposite single parents in the second book in the sinfully sexy Vegas Nights series.

Detective Adrian Potter had a lot to answer for. I didn’t care that he was tasked with shutting down the city’s most prolific hookers.
I cared that he was stopping me from providing for my daughter.
He didn’t care.
Not at all.
Until I broke down in the backseat of his car… And he let me go.
Adrian was a single parent, too. He knew how hard I had it. At least, he thought he did.
He had a job. He had people who cared. He didn’t know just how lucky he was.
My name is Perrie Fox.
I was a whore of the highest value.
Until Detective Adrian Potter.
Until the tattooed, redemption-seeking detective entered my life, looking for his fairytale.
The cop and the hooker.
Happily ever fucking never.

You’ve met one Fox sibling.
Now meet the other…

(LUST is book two of the Vegas Nights series. While it is a standalone, the time frame does overlap with scenes in the previous book, SIN. You can, however, read LUST without reading SIN.)

Needs to be rated higher than 5 stars because this is my favorite book by Hart yet! Adrian and Pierre are great characters. But Zac and Lola stole this show. They are perfectly written and absolutely adorable! I'm so sad to see this story end but I can't wait to see what Emma's fantastic mind comes up with next! Note, I did receive an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

A hooker and a cop walked into a bar. There's no punchline. That's how the story begins. Ok, so it was a casino, but that's besides the point. Based on the cover alone, I wasn't expecting such an excruciatingly naughty slow burn. But with enough swoon to melt my ovaries (it's ok, I don't need them anymore anyways) and enough emotion to melt my heart, it was totally worth it. If you like single dad stories, you're going to love this one. Perrie and Adrian are both single parents so they are a perfect match. Their children team up on them for some Parent Trap style shenanigans which makes for some wildly entertaining stuff. Having read SIN (book #1 in this series), there was a few things I was looking forward to in this book. While it was mostly fulfilling, I'm still sort of missing something here. There was a key piece of information that wasn't disclosed in SIN regarding Dahlia's bar and why Damien's father wanted it. I was sure I was going to learn in in Lust, but alas I did not. Maybe there is another book coming? I'm a little confused. At any rate, this was still a fantastic read. Perrie was the sassy and feisty heroine that Emma Hart always entertains me with and her daughter was a rather entertaining chip off that old block. And who doesn't love a hot cop? He's equal parts Alpha and enduring. They come together to create a story about second chances that sizzles with lust and burns with emotion.

“And the more I watched his father applying hot pink polish to her tiny fingers, I realized something else. He was a thief, too. The worst kind, because he’d snuck in and stolen a piece of me I never knew was up for grabs. He’d stolen my daughter’s heart. And that meant he’d stolen mine, because a part of me lived within her.” If you haven’t read Sin yet, you definitely need to get on that! You can ABSOLUTELY read Lust without reading it, but if you’re like me and want the backstory … it’s totally worth it! (Hilarious. Swoony. Romantic. Aggravating.) As for Lust … I loved this one, but honestly the kids stole the show! Lola and Zac are two of the most adorable, and somewhat aggravating, kids ever! Each of them has something missing from their lives — a parent. Living with just one parent can be upsetting in any ways (I know. I grew up with just my Momma.), but it can also provide you with a sense of true appreciation for those who care about you. Being that these two are younger, their childlike honesty is something that’s actually beautiful to see. Their shenanigans seriously MADE this book for me. Beyond them, Adrian and Perrie appear to be complete opposites — literally on opposing sides of the law. In their first encounter, each pretty much judged the other and their stubbornness almost cost them their love. Throughout the story, it seems for each step they take forward, they convince themselves to take three steps back. This reminded me a lot of the true struggles that single parents have. Not only were these two opposites, they were focused on creating the best life they could for their children, and weren’t willing to compromise for that. Reading this story I laughed (out loud), cried (just a little), yelled at the characters, swooned over those kiddos, and ultimately totally enjoyed myself. This series has a lot more substance behind it than the cover conveys. It’s fun & sexy, of course, but it’s real & true as well, and THAT is what makes me love it !

Welcome to Sin City. The city that Never sleeps. The city where people can win and lose just as big.The city where alcohol flows and debauchery reigns. The city that pits cop against prostitute in its ‘seedy underbelly,’ both doing their jobs for a variety of reasons and finding ways to provide for their family, even if the risks are high and the clientele reprehensible.  A Hooker. A Prostitute. A Whore. A Fox. One of these terms is definitely not synonymous with the others, but for Perrie Fox, they all define her current circumstances and the one that carries the most weight has nothing to do with her last name because a whore is a whore regardless of how much make-up she puts on…how stylish her clothes are…how much she washes and scrubs the filth and judgment off her body. And when it comes to how Perrie sees herself and the situation that she was forced to live due to her family’s  refusal to help her when she needed them the most. A cop and a prostitute joining forces sounds like the start of a bad joke, but in Lust, it’s Perrie and Adrian’s reality, and even though Perrie has no other choice than to work with Adrian, it’s also a way for her to get out of a profession that she never should have had to be a part of in the first place. It’s always the off-limits and untouchable women who the heroes seem to gravitate towards, and Detective Adrian Potter finds himself in that exact situation when he allows Perrie to remain free and allows her and her daughter into his life more than he probably should allow, crossing lines that shouldn’t be crossed but not being able to stop it from happening because as much as Perrie believes Adrian doesn’t understand her…doesn’t truly see who she is beneath a profession he despises, he does know that she’s not meant to be someone’s whore…she’s not meant to live around squalor and darkness…she’s not meant to risk her life to put food in her daughter’s belly and a roof over her head, and Adrian will stop at nothing to figure out this blonde bombshell whose last name is synonymous with money but whose lifestyle doesn't reflect any of the luxury that comes with the Fox moniker.  Emma Hart continues to create broken and flawed yet feisty and capable heroines - ones who deal with the hand their dealt the only way they know how and while others may judge them and question why they’re in the situations they are, Hart allows her leading ladies to tell their stories honestly, offering insights that only they can shed light on because the inside is so much more than what is shown on the outside. I adored Detective Adrian Potter. He may allow his past to dictate too much of his present, but the reasons for that are completely understandable and his reaction and subsequent actions illustrate a man intent on ensuring another child doesn't lose a parent to a profession that chews women up and spits them out, seeing them as nothing but a way to make money one of the worst possible ways. Hart's Vegas Nights is one kickass series with likable main and secondary characters and story lines that sizzle and soothe in all the best ways! 4.5 Poison Apples

So, a hooker and a cop. Seen it, you say. But, no, I say, you haven't seen it like this, like Emma Hart's written them in LUST, the second book in her Vegas Nights series. Trust me when I say that neither Perrie Fox nor Adrian Potter are like the others that you've seen. Emma has written a couple of characters with plenty of heart, lots of sass, and enough chemistry between them to power, well, Las Vegas. Emma's characters never fail to grab me, heart and soul, and Perrie and Adrian are some of my favorites to date. These two are all sizzle and pop from their first meeting. Polar opposites, or so it would seem, it doesn't take too long to figure out that they're more alike than they'd like to admit, and just what each other needs. And those kids, though. It only seems fitting that someone as sassy and snarky and take-no-nonsense as Perrie would have a mini-me that can almost, almost out-attitude her. Lola had me laughing out loud in pretty much every scene she was in. And, Zac, Adrian's son, is the perfect match for Lola, and the constant reminder of what a great father Adrian is. Even with all of their demons, Perrie and Adrian have done a great job as parents, and the love between them and their kids is evident. You can't help but fall for the characters in Emma's books, because, beneath the story, they're doing the best that they can, just like the rest of us. Physical attraction aside, Perrie and Adrian are parents, children, people working to get a job done, and, at the end of the day, just people. Dealing with the seamier side of life has left them both somewhat jaded and untrusting, and seeing those layers peel away the longer that they spend time together made for one of Emma's best stories yet. LUST is 4.5-stars worth of snark, spark, and heart-mending, and I absolutely adored it. Although it's part of a series, it can be read as a standalone (although, why, why, why, would you want to miss the first book? Get reading!). It needs to be on your TBR, and fast. You'll be in love before you know it.

I could not wait to get my hands on another book from the Vegas Nights series and find out more about the mysterious Perrie Fox that Emma Hart introduced to her readers in Sin, the first book in the series. Little did I know that Emma would decimate my heart with yet another fictional detective with Adrian Potter. It wasn't long into Perrie and Adrian's story in Lust that I was completely besotted by them and their adorable offspring. Perrie Fox is a conundrum that I couldn't wait to solve. I wanted to peel back the layers of this woman who would do anything for her daughter. I had nothing but admiration for Perrie and sympathy for the plight of raising a daughter with no family or money. She shows everyone what she is made of with her tenacity and had me developing a crush faster than Adrian...a girl crush that is. Adrian Potter has a heart as big as his muscled and inked arms. I couldn't help but fall for him, hard and fast after seeing all the things he did for Perrie add in the way he treats Perrie's daughter Lola and I was an absolute blubbering mess. Emma had hearts pounding and heavy sighs escaping all of her readers with this delicious and soft hearted hero. Emma Hart delivers another story that leaves fans all around the world an emotional mess and clamoring for more sparks with heart and flowers from this hero and heroine. I highly recommend Lust for a read that gives us just that and so much more. Emma never fails to amaze, dazzle, and leave tears in our eyes from her stupendous story telling skills. There isn't a book of hers that I have read that I wasn't enamored before even half way through. Her humor, love for family, and downright sexy words that she adds into all of her stories keeps me begging for more. I am always looking for more books from this fascinating and talented author.

4.5 Stars! Things heat up in Lust, the second book in the Vegas Nights series! Perrie Fox is bastard heir to the Fox fortune, but she has been estranged from the Fox family, including her beloved brother, Damien, for many years. Now raising her 7 year old daughter alone, she works as a prostitute to make ends meet. Detective Adrian Potter is a single father and head of the LVPD task force tasked to get sex workers off the streets. He does his job motived by very personal reasons. When Adrian arrets Perrie one night, theirs lives take a turn neither saw coming. I have to tell you, this one will hit you right in the heart. Emma Hart has outdone herself with Adrian Potter, the sexy, sullen, single father and detective. You won't be able to help yourself. His brand of sexy, grumpy protectiveness is endearing. Perrie is great. She is strong and independent and she doesn't let anyone boss her around, not even Adrian. I loved how she put him in his place. The story itself is great - two people on opposite sides drawn to each other. They don't particularly like each other in the beginning, but they are bound together. I liked that the feelings developed slowly. Their relationship slowly builds throughout the book, but the end of chapter 23 left me open-mouthed! Then, it is all made better by... well, you'll see. I had to give a special section to the kids, because let me tell you, Emma Hart writes THE best book kids...EVER! Lola is Perrie's 7 year old daughter and she is adorable - too smart for her own good, sassy and with no filter. I loved her. Zac is Adrian's son and he has a heart of gold surrounded by an 8 year old boy mouth. I enjoyed the story of Lola and Zac as much as I did Perrie and Adrian's story. Actually, this book is really more than just a romance, it's a book about family. Perrie's relationship with her family. Adrian's issues with Zac's mom. Perrie's issues with her brother. The kids... oh the kids! I can't wait for you all to read this book. It is pretty amazing and a definite OneClick read!

What happens when you're the adopted daughter of a Law Vegas mogul and you get pregnant and decide to keep the baby? Well, when you are Perrie Fox and your dad is Benedict Fox you get cut off. You go from the lap of luxury to having nothing. Your father, who happens to own strip clubs, becomes your own personal Benedict Arnold. He goes from being on your side to not being there for you at all. To top it off her brother side's with her controlling, overbearing dad! What is a girl to do when money is running out and she has herself and a child to support? Well Perrier turns to the oldest profession around. Sins in sin city. The author has Perrie's daughter add light hearted laughter and a very human element to the book. Lust is a book the shows hardship and laughter and strength and resilience. It wonderfully tells the human experience.

*4.5 Stars I enjoyed this story so much! I don’t want it to be the last of the Vegas Nights world! I’m a sucker for a man with badge but thrown in two, smart as cookies, kids and I’m a complete goner. I wasn’t quite sure where Emma was going to take the cop and hooker story but I’m so happy with the way she did! This book completely exceeded my expectations! I loved Sin and couldn’t wait to read Perrie’s story after meeting her for the first time. Perrie and Adrian couldn’t have met for the first time under worse circumstances. He arrests her for prostitution. Struggling as a single parent, she has a breakdown in the back seat of his cop car and he sets her free. These characters were so much fun to watch interact as their relationship evolved. They couldn’t have been more opposite. Their bantering, as hilarious as it was, only added to the hot chemistry sparking off the pages. One thing I love the most about all of Emma’s books are the secondary characters she writes. Zac and Lola, Adrian and Perrie’s kid, were so cute and adorable! Not to mention they were so smart that it didn’t take long to completely fall in love with them. I love the way the story lines overlapped from Sin into Lust and we got to see Damien and Dhalia again. I couldn’t get enough of all of these characters and how their worlds intertwine. If you’re looking for a hot story with a dash of hilarity, look no further. Grab this up right now!

Emma Hart releases a book and they are always MUST READS!! Heck, even looking at this cover makes you want to own it! It’s so naughty and so hot… just like the words inside! Emma Hart can write a steamy hot book like no one else!! Lust was not what I was expecting, at all!! There was so much more emotion in this book. There was a TON of lust, as you’d expect, but it’s so much more than that. This book is so much more than the title and cover implies… Lust. This book really shows what it’s like to join two families and to have them learn and grow together. They form into something amazing! Ugh… it’s just so sweet and emotional! You can’t help but FEEL this book inside you!! Everyone is gonna love this book! It’s so much more than just a romance!! Emma Hart’s writing keeps getting better and better. Her people are so relatable and so real. Her stories are always more that you’ll go in expecting. The story line is touching, the naughty bits are off the charts!! I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.

Lust is the second book in the Vegas Nights series by the incredibly talented Emma Hart. I really enjoyed Sin, the first in the series, but I loved Lust. When we met Perrie in Sin, I knew her story was going to be emotional and sexy. Perrie is Damien's sister. She had a tough childhood and never believed she deserved to be loved. She's a single mom and the only job she thought she was worthy of was selling her body. When she meets the sexy, brooding Adrian, the cop who arrests her, she didn't realize her life was going to change. He has a proposition for her. He wants her to have a better life. But, will working together every night blur the line of being professional. It doesn't take long for Adrian to cross it and he doesn’t regret it. At all. He wants Perrie. He just gets her. And when the kids meet! OMG! I loved Lola and Zac, They were fantastic! They almost stole the whole book for me :). I'm a sucker for a single dad and a single mom and I love when they can find happiness together. Overall, I loved this story. It made me cry, laugh, get tingles and laugh some more. Adrian is so sexy with his tattoos and muscles and Perrie is so strong and independent. These two imperfect people make the perfect couple! "We're meeting some friends here - Dad's tall, dark-haired, tattoos on his arm - " "Dreamy like a Disney prince," Lola interjected. Truth was, I couldn't stop myself. I couldn't stop kissing her. She tasted of more than sweetness and mint. She tasted of obsession and she smelled like addiction. "I won't f around. I want you, Perrie, and come h or high water, I will f have you." "We're going to need the rules. If you have sleepovers with Adrian, I need sleepovers with Zac." "is that right?" "Yes. That's only fair, Mommy. We both get sleepovers or nobody does. That's how it works."

Lust was everything I needed from Emma Hart. After the glimpse of Adrian and Perrie we get in Sin, I was DYING to know about these two. The chemistry is there, it's real and it's HOT. They both try to resist each other and sometimes that is what makes the story even better. Temptation is real. Chemistry and attraction are real. As much as Adrian tries to fight what he feels for Perrie he can't. Watching these two was amazing. Add in the fact they both have children and I loved it even more. Between Sin and Lust, I'm going to have to say Lust is my favorite. I think it only has to do with watching these two overcome their struggles and letting their hearts open and fall in love. 5 stars to Emma for an amazing read!

Lust is Book 2 in the "Vegas Nights" Series. It can be read as a standalone without any problems. This is about one hooker and a cop. They both have kids. One day, he arrests her and from this moment on, their lives will change. Perrie wanted to change her life. She feels that she and her daughter Lola deserve better. She is looking for an opportunity to change things, only the opportunity comes when she expects it the less. When Adrian, a very hot cop arrests her and lets her go with the condition that she helps him, life will change forever.... She didn't want to do what he asked from her but she had no other choices. The chemistry between Adrian and Perrie is amazing. Things are not easy for them and a relationship is absolutely impossible. This story was so entertaining that I couldn't put the book down. Since the very first line I was hooked with this great story! A great read! Very entertaining!

Perrie Fox, as the adopted daughter of Benedict Fox, Las Vegas Mogul and owner of more than his fair share of the city's strip clubs, was raised in the lap of luxury, but all that ended seven years ago when, upon choosing to keep the daughter she was then pregnant with, he cut her off completely. With money quickly running out, and few other options, Perrie reluctantly turned to the world's oldest profession to make ends meet and carve out a life for herself and her precious daughter Lolo, away from her overbearing father, and the brother who betrayed everything they'd once been to each other by siding with their father. Having read Sin, the first book in Emma Hart's Vegas Nights series, I kind of expected Perrie's story to pick up where her brother's story had left off, but, upon cracking open the cover was pleasantly surprised to find that much of what I'd assumed I knew about Perrie from that book was … substantially lacking in fine detail. Instead, the two stories run parallel in such a manner that it hardly matters which is read first, though if you were to read them in reverse order, the few points where the stories intersect would offer some minor spoilers. That said, I once again found myself awed by Emma's ability to spin a story seemingly out of thin air and flesh it out with characters both intriguing and compelling. As one who has an admitted soft spot for stories with young children in it, Perrie's daughter Lolo is absolutely adorable, and the reason for some of the funniest moments in the book, of which there are more than just a few. Beyond that, Lust is a tale that, while it certainly encompasses the titular attribute, is also a very human story, telling of foibles and weaknesses but also strength and resilience. A story of two people looking beyond surface appearances and stereotypes to see what lies deeper. Loved it to bits.

5 stars Emma Hart has created the ultimate story! This one tops all others. We all like the single parent stories, but it's always just one or the other. The hero or the heroine. What if I told you that you could read a story where they were BOTH single parents! Plus, Emma Hart writes the best kids. They're super sassy and smart. Perrie and Lola. Adrian and Zac. These are my favorite people right now. Perrie hasn't had the easiest life, especially since she's been away from her estranged family. She's done what she has to to keep a roof over her daughter's head and food in her stomach. It's not ideal, but it works. Until one night it doesn't. Zac does this job for a reason. If it helps him come to terms with his past then I saw go for it. It's always worked for him until he meets Perrie. Something about her calls to him. She seems different from the rest. As much as he tries to forget her, nothing works. We knew a little bit about Perrie from SIN. Damien told us a little bit about her and how she ended up where she is. But now we get to hear it directly from Perrie. Best way to hear it. She's strong and selfless, smart and sassy, which is the best way for a heroine to be. Adrian is a cocky bastard. While he tries to keep his distance, he eventually works that to his advantage. The things he says to Perrie would make any woman melt. There's only one negative thing I can say about this ended. This is one where I never wanted it to end. I wanted more of these four. Ms. Hart creates these stories and characters that we become addicted to and then she ends the story. Who does that!! But we can always be assured that she's working on more for us to love and hate all at the same time, so I guess that's something to look forward to.

Lust by Emma Hart brings forth the arduous feel and explosion of two characters wanting each other yet fighting to be together. I love that Emma Hart captures me with passion and lust. The scenes in this book are fire! Since book 1 I have been wanting Lust. I got a little glimpse of Perrie and Adrian and I was hooked. This story is captivating, different, and makes you want more. Perrie is a tough girl who has a difficult past. She calls herself the reverse Cinderella. Even though she's gone through so much her personality is still bright. She loves her daughter and will do anything for her. I found myself endeared to both of these girls. Adrian is commanding and all power. He is a detective and the way these two characters meet is an instant hook. I was hooked. I love that Adrian is straight to the point and I love how he teases Perrie. It is truly remarkable what Emma Hart creates with this story. She gives us sweetness and passion in one book. I found myself smiling and swooning throughout the entire book. Lust is such a good book. Everyone needs to read it!

Lust is book 2 in the Vegas Nights series by Emma Hart. Holy moly that first sentence had me hooked. Talk about laughing once you open a book. Emma never disappoints. Considering its book 2 I don't think it's necessary to read book 1 but why wouldn't you it was awesome. We get to see the story of Perrie and Adrian. What starts off as something that could have been disastrous ends up being the best thing that could have happened to Perrie and Adrian. Being thrown together for work helps these 2 find something that was missing. I give this book a 5 star rating and would definitely recommend it.
