Lynx to a Killing
Randy Waters, Game Warden for the Trinidad, Colorado district has to deal with anti-hunting groups who occupy his territory at the beginning of hunting season. The demonstration was triggered because Waters spotted a Lynx far from its usual territory, and the subsequent report in the news media. Many hunters, of course heavily armed, are upset with the disruption and take action against the group. A man and a young woman from the group decide to stay behind and continue to interrupt hunting in the area. They camp at the edge of a mountain meadow and disrupt a hunter taking aim at a huge, trophy bull elk. A confrontation leads to the murder of the hunter and sends the two demonstrators on the run to escape. The chase takes place over a rugged area near Monument Lake in the Sangre de Cristo range of the Rockies. The final battle leads to a shootout between Randy Waters and the fugitive killer on a rocky dike near West Spanish Peak.

This story is dedicated to Bob Holder and the men and women of the Colorado Department of Wildlife and Parks. This is the fourth book in the Randy Waters series.

About the Author

Brian Angevine is a former school teacher and avid outdoorsman who grew up in Colorado. While his training is in music education and gifted education, he feels equally comfortable in a concert hall or a wilderness area. He lives in a tiny town, Cuba, Kansas and spends as much time as possible at his cabin west of Trinidad, Colorado. The cabin provides a perfect writing retreat and his days consist of hiking, writing and fishing for trout. Angevine enjoys writing about the Colorado mountains, the animals, and the people who protect them.
